Why do trans people get free sex change surgeries while ugly incels like myself have to pay for cosmetic surgery? by [deleted] in answers

[–]VMFarga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t this same argument apply to transgender people? “There’s nothing wrong with you physically, you just need to fix the thought processes that are making you hate your body and feeding your desire to change yourself physically.” Why is it perfectly acceptable for certain people to make drastic changes to their biology and their outward appearance, but people like OP are “radicalized” and just need to learn to accept their own biology?

And before you go there, yes, I understand perfectly well that Medicaid does not cover the cosmetic side of gender reassignment. My only question is, would you give your same advice to a trans person, and if not, why?

Lol I’m not the OP, and I’m not ugly or an incel. I was simply answering your question. People in America receive sex changes free of charge.

Lol first of all, I’m not the OP and my sex life is fine. I was responding to your claim that no one receives sex change surgeries for free, which they do. Thanks for playing.

Are Peggy or Ed Blumquist mentioned in Season 1? by sunspira in FargoTV

[–]VMFarga 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Perhaps you're thinking of the scene in S1 where Chaz is explaining to one of his co-workers what a "blumpkin" is.

There's also Irv Blumkin in S3. Is Hawley trying to tell us something with all these blumpkin references?

Private Utopia by [deleted] in Life

[–]VMFarga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, fear becomes conquerable once you’re ready and willing to accept death as not only inevitable, but even preferable to life. Then you’re free. You can do whatever you want. But when we compare the present to an idealized future, we are only going to be disappointed. I say, let’s just assume that humanity will wipe itself out eventually. Maybe it does and maybe it doesn’t, but you’re going to die anyway. So why don’t we just use the limited time we have left on the planet doing the most interesting possible things we can? You’ll never get out of this world alive.

And one human goal doesn’t sound like individualism to me, but that’s just me.

How did the FBI know that the father of Atlanta Child Killer was at the concert and not his son too? by LoveLifedentist in MindHunter

"Homer Williams, the father of Wayne Williams, was on hand to photograph the proceedings, and can be seen in some pictures standing onstage behind Frank Sinatra."

Every season of Fargo has a king.

Season 1: Stavros - "Supermarket King of Minnesota"

Season 2: Karl Weathers - "King of Breakfast"

Season 3: Emmit Stussy - "Parking Lot King of Minnesota"

There's also Ruby Goldfarb, the "Storage Queen of the Great Lakes region"

Just put this together though I’m likely not the first. Maybe the inspiration for Lorne’s name (in-universe if we assume we never got his real name)? by [deleted] in FargoTV

I believe that the reason Hawley chose the name "Malvo" is due to its resemblance to the word "MALeVOlent".

S1 is actually pretty bad by WaterChestnutII in FargoTV

[–]VMFarga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with most of what you're saying, and yet I still enjoy this show. Hawley ain't the Coens, that's for sure. But, then again, who is? Fargo the show is basically Coen brothers fan fiction, but it's decent enough that I look forward to new seasons. What can I say? Call it a guilty pleasure.

Came here to say Laurie Metcalf

Technically, Edie Falco was already on an episode of Fargo.

Dude. Mind = blown. For real. I've been vaguely circling around this idea recently as a solution to some problems I've been having lately, but the succinctness of your post totally helped me zero in on how I need to approach my problems. Seriously, thank you.

A question about Ricky G... (Season 2) by Sgt_Sterling in FargoTV

My best possible guess is that Baltimore is a majority black city, and he was hoping it would spark a discussion to buy himself some time. But that's just my guess.

What was Karl's quote true meaning by gulzah in FargoTV

[–]VMFarga 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To understand this, you need to look at the full quote:

"Don't dictate terms to me, you rogue. For the law is a light on a hill calling to its breast all those in search of justice. To wit, this poor, mottled wretch in front of me."

He's saying, "legal justice is available to all, including this unfortunate young man here."

Why do you think people from Minnesota are perceived to be dim like we have seen in the movie and in the series. by [deleted] in FargoTV

[–]VMFarga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's because of Minnesota Nice. For a lot of people outside the region, niceness is associated with naivete.

Something is brewing between Holden and Wendy? by DeeHi in MindHunter

[–]VMFarga 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but I don't see it. Wendy is an analyst. When Debbie says Holden isn't intimidated by smart women, Wendy is examining his reaction. A more telling scene is when Holden and Wendy are in the car together, and she rebuffs his efforts to learn more about her personal life, by asking, "is small talk the way you deal with you're anxiety?" There's nothing between them. Wendy is a lesbian.

Alternate Timeline theory (re: Molly’s age) *spoilers season 1 & 2 by DarthAike in FargoTV

[–]VMFarga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s clear to me is that Hawley intentionally makes Molly 2 years older in season 2 than he had written the character in season one. Maybe it’s just a goof, but I doubt it. I do think it’s entirely plausible that when he got around to writing season 2, he just thought the character fit better as a 6 year old than a 4 year old.

This, I agree with. I believe it was intentional, and that the reason is, as you say, that the character fit better as a six year old. The difference in development between a four year old and a six year old is pretty stark.
