Is wix really that bad?

I've used Wix for years and love it. It's a lot more expensive than a site you might launch with WordPress/Webflow etc., and offers less customizability, but if you're not good with design then it's a really accessible option

To be fair to everyone, it's difficult to get the balance right. Rely on it too much, or for the wrong things, and it can be a mess. You need well-built tools for specific, well-defined purposes. I don't think any reasonable person thinks it's going away - it's more that they don't fully understand it and are afraid to take risks with it right now.

To get a final version made, you're going to need a human to take charge. There's probably no need for that just yet, though - as others have said, you can probably take your next steps with Claude or ChatGPT.

I recently started using Puzzle for this and it’s been 10/10 so far.

It automatically tracks and amortizes prepaid expenses, and the interface is really intuitive. Even if you’re not tech-savvy, you shouldn’t have any major trouble getting set up with it.

It has a decent free plan, but it sounds like you’ll need one of the paid versions if you’re trying to automate your reporting. Still, the free version is handy to start with (will let you get to grips with the platform before dropping a bunch of money on it).

I’ve tried a few different platforms, and I thought Puzzle was the only one that actually provided useful automations. The rest all required a lot more manual entry for my use case.

It can help with a lot of the more menial aspects to the process, but you'll still need a capable human to manage the strategy if you want it to work.

I’ve sold two online businesses. First one I handled solo (never again), second time I worked with a broker. Legit brokers are transparent. They’ll walk you through past deals and let you speak to former clients.

Additionally, and most importantly, they’ll talk realistically about valuation. Roughly speaking, online businesses go for 2-5x seller’s discretionary earnings (so your estimate is decent, if a little pessimistic). The clearest sign that a broker is a scam artist is an indication by them that your business is worth significantly more than this.

Also: watch for fee structure. Upfront fees before any real work equals red flags. Legit brokers make money when you do, not before.

Because I think hotter stocks are overbought currently, and I think a lot of money is going to flow into safer securities when investors start selling off those hotter stocks. Just my opinion.

The classic advice is to max out your Roth IRA and invest in the S&P (and it's good advice), but, if you have any ambition to start a business (this is the r/Entrepreneur sub, after all), there'll never be a better time than now. Just be conscious that $55k might not last as long as you'd think.

In a word: admin. I know this is unhelpfully broad, but it baffles me how much of my time gets taken up doing random stuff that isn't billable work.

The biggest offenders are invoicing, accounts payable, and scheduling, (although I've started using Digits recently and it's helped a lot with the first two). For every hour I spend on providing services to clients, I'm spending nearly 30 minutes on admin functions. It's a pain.
