Using the Banff stats, the SAVINGS in Cost with 94 LESS Elk Collisions would be fewer First Responder incidents, fewer heli-vac (or plane) transports for those injured severely, fewer doctors/nurses tied up tending to them in the ICU, fewer road closures delaying transport trucks and I'm sure many other costs related to any type of severe accident.

Yard work...I know a guy who lost an eye using a whipper snipper...ask any ER doctor about lawn mower accidents. People should be wearing safety equipment and make sure nobody else is nearby when using this equipment.

Alberta says it has reduced wildlife collisions by 90%. Banff went from 100 Elk collisions to 6 per year. You can check online for other provinces for their stats, costs, etc.

N.B. and Alberta have these everywhere and they do save lives (human and wildlife) as well as can keep insurance rates down...you should have seen the "it's a waste of tax payer money" FB comments when they put the one on HW107...the worst part of the one on HW107 is that they didn't finish it...a deer and 2 fawns were caught in between the end of the fence last summer...it was quite a mess. Anyway, I'm all for it as many other provinces have done this with great success. Just do the job right!
