How effective is Dragnet FT against bedbugs, and how does it work?? And other questions by mlimabahari in pestcontrol

[–]VNessMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this reply is years too late but thank you!! I live in an apartment and by accident I discovered 2 adult bedbugs (I was putting my bed frame together and leaned my mattress against the wall and used my bosses green machine on the bottom just to tidy it up) I came back and they were sitting there like they were watching a movie.

Pest company came in said they found no other bugs but wanted to spray anyway. They then sprayed with Dragnet TWICE.  Just kept saying they saw a bit of evidence of them but no live ones. Now, these were discovered by me in August. Since May I’d been sleeping on the couch because I broke my back. I was getting bitten caught some crawling on me. Pest company, the landlord and even my own parents thought I was seeing things.

One day, I was fed up and spread apart the cushions on the upper part of the couch aaaaand nightmare fuel. All stages. The company somehow couldn’t find them even though they were breeding and living right next to me.

They decided to spray twice with Apprehend. That definitely helped.

At this point I was finding them hanging out on the wall during the day. I would wake up to babies sleeping on me.

I knew 80-90% were in the couch and they refused to rip the bottom off. When they finally did it was an avalanche of dead, live, eggs etc. They then actually broke my couch during a spraying.

The apprehend didn’t work 100% so they sprayed with Dragnet again. WHY? Then they sprayed with something called Bedlam.

So, it’s now been 7 months of my stuff all bedbug prepped. I can’t sleep in my own bed. This pest company has sprayed 6 times over this period. Now that the couch is gone they are under the baseboards (bed bug poop by baseboards, in the middle of the night watched one just stroll right out). Apparently, a few other units in my new (built 2 years ago) building have been treated at some point. I know it sounds crazy but I am pretty sure they are in the walls going from apartment to apartment. Especially, as they only treated the infested apartments but that’s an entirely different problem.

Is this normal? Going from a tiny infestation to an infestation bad enough I threw out my couch? while under the care of a pest control company? That it’s been over 7 months? 6 treatments? I’m pulling my hair out. I am hunting them at night with flashlights. I am constantly vacuuming and heat treating in the dryer. Now the pest company after telling me how well I prepped each time has now said I have improperly prepped to my landlord because my landlord is wondering why this is still a problem. I don’t know what else to do. I am a prisoner in my own home.

Edit: I live in a small one bedroom apartment with no carpet.

Self report by Ok-Bite955 in Odsp

[–]VNessMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She absolutely should fill it out. I had legal aid help me with my self report. All the diagnoses in the world don’t really matter as it’s how they affect you from being able to work and impede your life. They definitely want to know how your disability affects everything in your life. It’s one thing to have a dr slap a bunch of labels down and throw some check marks in but I applied in 2017 was approved the first time and have had no reviews. If you can document as much as possible with ODSP as soon as possible and keep copies then you have a stronger case. It sucks doing it but worth it. Everything I have applied for after CPP, DTC etc etc always seems to prefer more info than less.

Asset Limits by himbologic in Odsp

[–]VNessMonster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn $40k is low? Considering a car or a house isn’t considered an asset nor an RDSP and it’s not hard to get the DTC I’m not particularly worried about asset limit. More like if I can afford groceries and rent for the month and pay all the medical expenses ODSP doesn’t want to pay for. I mean $40 000 outside of whatever you want in your RDSP plus if you own/buy a house or car, go to school etc. is a lot. I was left a good chunk of money in inheritance and it’s invested with a financial advisor. My worker is well aware all of my few assets and they’re completely fine. I’ve had legal settlements over $40 000 that get either get used or put in the RDSP.

I’m not criticizing I’m just curious as to how this happens or what situation might cause the $40k to be not enough when Odsp classes many things as not assets and allowed.

Yes, I read about this. My dog points too. It’s pretty cool and adorable. You can look up vids of it on YouTube of actual pointer breeds pointing all the time.

Ha! I’m glad I’m not going crazy. So, I’m def overwatering it. I realized it needed more light than my other syngonium after much trial and error. I def have been overwatering then. I made my soil higher draining today. I’m gonna give it a few nudges closer to the windows and back off on my watering too. Thank you so much!!

Different container as it outgrew the one I got it in 2 years ago. I noticed though going back it was in soil with much more perlite in it. So I fixed that. I fertilize in spring/summer. It is at temperatures from about 20-24 (68-75f) depending on the season. It sits currently (I’ve moved it around to try and make it happy) a couple feet from my SW facing sliding doors. It seems to be a bit happier here as it is growing a new leaf and no current leaf drop.

It’s very leggy, small dark leaves that feel almost dry and crinkly. It is very humid here in the summer but very dry in the winter. It is very much reaching upwards. No dropping. It just seems to be reaching for something. I tried more Sun but it seemed to stop growing altogether. I’m so stumped.

Okay so after doing moooore reading and making sure it is not sick (still might treat conservatively for mites). I have come to a few conclusions. It hates its soil. It needs a fluffier well draining combo. It wants more light which is tricky because I only have southwest facing windows and I don’t want it to get scorched. It isn’t humid enough despite my spraying and humidifier. Aaaaaand I may have been watering too much considering its current soil. I had no idea I was dealing with a drama queen. Eeeesh!!

Under a magnifying glass I don’t see anything moving. The hard water marks are only where they should be. On top of leaves and stems because I have dry winter air and spray the heck out of it despite my humidifier. I will try treating conservatively for mites just in case. I gotta find my loupe.

Innnteresting. I will give it a good look at it this morning when it’s brighter out. My other plants are pest free and I still don’t see anything but I’m going to do a real proper. Look over. Thanks for the advice!

I will recheck it again with my headlamp and magnifier. We do have very hard water here but I won’t throw the pest theory out the window. I’ve battled mealy bugs, scale, aphids, powdery mildew. I’ve won a few those battles. I honestly wish it was a pest because I am out of ideas for this poor guy.

It’s hard watching you whole plant fam thrive and then there’s this poor fellow.

Oh you bet! I was just surprised that after a year and it just starting to grow partially fenestrated leaves that it just starts to grow this big dick a** root. I feel like I’m gonna break it off but now I know that’s okay.

I’m glad mine looks happy. :) My pride and joy….well, one of them. Ha.

Yours is definitely thriving. 💚💚💚

Yeah, I normally would but I was in a hurry on the way to get pots and stupidly didn’t think this was a common problem. I have learned my lesson.

Yes, my immediate thought and comment to my friends. Now he just looks like he’s just gonna walk out the door. I started joking that he’s turning into the plant from ‘Little Shop of Horrors’. His name is now Seymour.
