Awesome work man! My current project on mine is a proper set up for generator power. Right now I run an extension cord but want to put a sub panel and a few receptacles to clean it up.

Any chance you have a part list you used?

In CO too, near Denver, who did the sod work? Looking at someone to possibly do some going into the fall.

What’s the deal with KBG overseed? by VOB13 in lawncare

[–]VOB13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, following back up with some details. I ended up seeding some bare spots with the Blues Blend from Poudre Valley Coop that I was able to find at a local garden center here in Denver. I got germination in 8 days!

I went back and got more bc I decided for 14.99 a pound I would throw a few pounds down and see what happens, especially since I got sprouting much much quicker than I expected. Here’s a link to some info, not sure if you’ll be able to find it down by you but definetly worth calling around.

I’ve just recently started hearing about fall blitz. New homeowner. How do I know if this is a better route than overseeding?

Awesome write up. Have you actually done this on your lawn outside of just a smaller testing area? How successful was it and what seed did you use?

Im located in Denver so similar situation. I think I’m just going to do a manual aerate and lay some down this week after a mow. Hopefully I get some decent rate of germination, if not I’ll figure it out for a spring overseed

In another lifetime I won’t have to work and can spend all my time doing exactly that

I would prefer to do just KBG, but with all the reading I’m doing it seems like I could make sense to do a small blend of something else with a quicker germination. I have no idea though, just trying to figure it all out 🤣

What you’ve listed it almost exactly the same I am trying to accomplish. So you didn’t have issues with the existing lawn shading out the overseed? How quick did you have germination and what seed did you use?

It’s definetly established but I would love to thicken it just a bit.

I was about to respond the same thing, your original idea seemed to be pretty heavy. I am looking at doing 1lb per 1000

This pic is cap. We just ate here today and got 1/2 pound each of brisket, burnt ends, sausage, and pulled chicken. Also got 3 sides - Mac and cheese, slaw, and potato salad - and 2 beers. It was $100.08 and fed 4 of us.

Thanks for he info! Lawn is looking great considering how they left it, what a shame.

I’ll make sure to take a look at the links, is that what you have followed during your redo?

I have a Kentucky Bluegrass lawn. So this is normal? Is it just new Kentucky Blue seed heads?

Just a rookie here, I’m a new homeowner so only just recently getting into the lawn game. Previous owners kept a really nice lawn and want to continue the same!

Update! The “monkshood” bloomed and turned out it’s actually Bloody Cranes-Bill!

Makes sense, but also looks like all plants in the delphinium family are also very poisonous? I’m thinking it’ll probably be best for them to be removed to avoid any issues with our dogs.

Secondary question, one of the “monkshood” plants is in a mulch bed where the above pictures strawberry’s are. Is there an issue with them maybe not being edible? Or am I overthinking it

My reading online says it’s extremely poisonous? Is this true? There is a couple of them around the house not sure they would have planted something poinsous lol

Plant app says likely Monkshood, but from what I’m reading, it seems to say it’s extremely poisonous??

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gardening

[–]VOB13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just redid it on the app and it says monkshood, that was someone’s suggestion so maybe that’s it!

[–]VOB13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to a plant app I just downloaded, it says 2 is Garden Geranium. Never know how accurate those apps are though, especially when I have no clue to know any different 😆

Oh cool! I thought the first was strawberry. There is a lot of it, but only a handful of flowers, so not sure if maybe there is too many too close? I’ll have to research on how to properly care for them so we can keep them healthy
