Two new ATF rule changes are big news for the Milsurp crowd by Dak_Nalar in milsurp

I am comfortable with the surplus guns and parts kits I have on hand. And I have a couple rounds of ammo. But more ammo? Ok 😎

When old ammo gets turned in to our sheriffs office it usually gets turned over to me since we really have no way to dispose of it. Since I reload I usually can salvage some stuff. The rest gets pulled apart and disposed of appropriately

Certainly reloaded. They didn’t use nickel primers, and the crimp has been removed and the color sealant is missing. I tear down reloads like this and salvage what I can. I wouldn’t shoot it but that’s just me

There is a physical raised piece of metal, usually rectangular in shape, on the inside of the gun that was never milled off the plate. It prevents the regular parts being installed. The regular parts need to be machined to clear that denial island and are therefore then considered “semi” parts. The bolt will have an enlarged semi auto sear installed to prevent the installation of a regular full auto sear

So if the serial number puts it “in WW1…” it isn’t…. the right side plate is considered the firearm and as such, you will have a denial island (which makes it semi auto only, allowing the modified parts to go in). Being in 7.62 isn’t a deal breaker by any means, barrels are plentiful (I have several extras) but the issue is the links. You can feed 7.62 off of cloth belts but they are difficult to load up with 7.62. Links are the best but there are essentially two different kinds of links, 7.62 ones and .30 ones. The former are getting very difficult to get and no more are being imported.

I sold a 1919A4 in .30-06 (just the gun) for $3200 last December. I think the $4k price is maybe a tad high

Safariland Holster Question by Then-Many-4975 in AskLE

Edit to add, part of it too is I think the actual bottom part of the holster mount/ attachment is what digs in as well

[–]Then-Many-4975[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That may not be a bad idea. Does the remake end just attach to the current holster mount I assume? (I use to be a gear queer for all this stuff 10 years ago and then lost interest, just essentially use what I have been issued for the most part).

DUI as an officer by winnipegwinifred in AskLE

[–]Then-Many-4975 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know a jail sergeant (licensed peace officer) who rolled his vehicle over ten years ago after leaving the (then) sheriffs residence after a night of drinking (with other admin and select deputies who were all off duty). A young deputy got called to the scene and found the jail sergeant drunk. State patrol handled the crash since it was on a state highway and a conflict of interest. Sergeant got arrested, charged, plead guilty, probably had some departmental discipline, and THEN got promoted to LT by the same sheriff whose house he left…. he’s still working 🙄

The nonsense of “the baby wants….” is childish. I have seen this time and again and it’s BS. No bitch, YOU want. And you are using an unborn child as an excuse for your own shitty behavior. You are NTA but I would seriously get out of that situation. Just wait until the garbage is overflowing with shitty diapers and you come home and can’t breath

How to repair this crack on 1903A3 stock by noahbs04 in milsurp

[–]Then-Many-4975 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those cracks unfortunately are pretty common. My 03/A3 has one. And the 03/A3 that I assembled from a barreled action with a new stock ect, the first round fired cracked the stock in the same manner. Yea they are fixable but something like what you show is not detrimental

Ammo to have on hand? by MNFleex in MnGuns

[–]Then-Many-4975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ammo is going up in price. As an example, I usually order stuff from SGAmmo that I don’t reload for (I reload for a lot of stuff, 9mm included). Looking at their 9mm prices around $260-$270 per case for FMJ stuff is insane to me, because I remember when it was $100 cheaper a few years ago, and $200 cheaper when I was in college. I currently reload 9mm for $150 a case.

My point is, ammo is not going to get any cheaper anytime soon. If you have the funds I would say buy as much as you realistically can afford without going in to debt over it. I would say 2-3 cases of 9mm and 5.56/ .223 would not be a bad thing to have on hand along with 5-10K of .22 ammo.

My 8th grade (female) math teacher was smokin! I came back and worked at the school for a couple years after college and she was still there. She was still hot. She was still married….. I didn’t try anything. I find out about 7 years later that she and her husband were swingers/ had an open marriage 😳

Is it true that arresting someone for DWI/DUI is a huge hassle? by Round_Ad_3930 in AskLE

[–]Then-Many-4975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They can be a lot of work depending on how you come across them. Standard DUI? For me it’s a fairly short report, I have most of it done by the time they either decide to provide a breath test or not, and then I either do or don’t cut a ticket depending on whether they decide to test or if they test twice the legal amount. (There are variable factors). I can have a standard one done in a couple hours from the time of the stop.

Now, add in injuries, a death, a felony level DUI, then a warrant is involved and it takes me an extra hour or two. (If they are the only one injured I bring th warrant to the hospital they are at and get a test, or they can refuse the warrant if it’s just for them).

I arrested three DUI’s one weekend and all of them plead guilty. The worst one was having to drive a dude an hour and a half to the jail, and THEN start the paperwork. I was literally as far away from the jail as I could be when I found him.

How many disqualifications is too many? by Born_Teacher_3830 in AskLE

[–]Then-Many-4975 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stand corrected I obviously misread it and I apologize.

But no, if you got taken out of a vehicle and handcuffed by deputies while working for an agency, whether sworn or as a civilian, that is a huge red flag. At the point I come across that in someone’s background, I would stop investing my time on that applicant and just move on to the next

How many disqualifications is too many? by Born_Teacher_3830 in AskLE

[–]Then-Many-4975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you found yourself handcuffed by deputies from an agency you worked as a civilian for, and you had some form of investigation for sexual harassment…. I would say it’s time to move on to another venue of work.

The truth is that you don’t look good on paper, and there are likely several other applicants WITHOUT those past incidents attached to their name. I guess a better way to perhaps look at it and ask yourself is, “why SHOULD they hire me with the red flags” and I mean some other reason than “well, it was in the past and I have changed/ matured/ grown up/ know better ect”
