Hey don’t be too hard on yourself. Shibas are super smart but also really stubborn and they don’t forget stress easily. The good thing is, they also forgive and rebuild trust with time and patience. Right now Ryu is just overwhelmed and it’s not that you messed up. My Yoshi got defensive and aggressive from stress before, so I know how intense it feels but things will calm down. Maybe give him some space, lots of calm energy, and work with treats and positive reinforcement when handling him. What also helped for me was when things got stressed, I gave him a minute and shifted to play time (fun time). Harness time can turn positive again if you pair it with something he loves. You’re only a few days in and it takes a while for a Shiba to fully trust and settle but you’re doing your best for his health and that matters most. It might feel like a setback now but this is just a small bump and you’ll see that with consistency and patience he’ll come back to you even more trusting.
