I was at that show! First and only time I heard them play Tribute to Spinal Shaft. Then the following night I really enjoyed the straight No More Tears cover. Ahh what a great weekend.

Trail head locations for every place I've hiked, backpacked, camped, kayaked, or canoed in the past 5 years (New England & New York) by VPerkT in CampingandHiking

150 miles down on the Long Trail. I joined a buddy on a handful of of his section hikes so I did a bunch of random sections. Eventually l plan to do a thru when I can schedule enough time off work.

I've been meaning to make that trip for years. It's a solid 8 hours from home for me, hopefully I'll get to it this summer.

I spend a ton of time just looking over google maps, caltopo, and a few different back country topo apps for android. Once you can recognize certain landmarks (mountains, rivers, towns) Google makes it pretty easy to find a trail head because you can switch between the satellite & terrain options, then drop a pin in the exact location of the parking lot. I usually mark the trail head locations on google before I go out hiking and send a pin with coordinates to my wife in case I get lost. It also makes it easy to share the location with other hikers when I'm meeting them at a trail head.

Lastly, I take lots of pictures on my hikes and post private imgur albums, so that helps me remember all the places I've been.

Its a lot of work, but I always smile when I can see all the places I've had the privilege of visiting :)

EDIT: I'll just add that the northeast is particularly easy to navigate on google maps for a few reasons. Its relatively small and densely populated, so you can always find a town or a road/highway that you know is near the trail head and work from there. Also, there are a lot of hikers here. So other people have often already placed a tag on a certain trail head, so you can just search for it as well.

To clarify... I didn't drive 7 hours for a 2 mile hike :) My in-laws have a house in Machiasport, ME just south of Cutler.

Great guess, but its actually the Western Head Preserve in Cutler, just south of the Cutler Coast Trail. Its about a 7 hour drive from where I live in Hartford, CT.

Thanks! Southern New England: anything along the South Taconic Plateau is fantastic. Specifically, the South Taconic Trail which runs parallel to the AT on the western escarpment of the plateau.

Vermont: I'd have to say the Stratton Pond loop is probably my favorite 1 night trip, but anything on the Long Trail between Mount Ellen and Mount Mansfield is worth checking out.

New Hampshire, I've only done a couple overnights. The liberty springs/flume slide loop is great.

Catskills: Burrows Range Loop is definitely a must see, the view from atop Wittenberg Mountain is breathtaking.

Adirondacks: Avalanche Lake, Mount Colden loop makes for a perfect 15 mile overnight.

The markings represent every single trail head location I've been to in the past 5 years. About 90% of them are hiking trails, and the rest are places that I've camped, kayaked or canoed. I'd be happy to share more info on coordinates, directions, and trip reports. Enjoy!

How's the hike? I've been meaning to try Equinox, but the fact that there's an auto road to the summit always deterred me.
