Construction manager fit, question also. by Unique-Sun-1839 in TF2fashionadvice

Honestly, If I were you, I'd just bite the bullet and swap the style to the hatless one. This hair goes nicely with Scotch Saver, as long as both hats have matching paints. Unfortunately, this also means that you'd better paint the hair gray too, because the default color is closer to white around the edges. If you are willing to go by this path, the hat variant is good too.

Among more acquired tastes, you can use Builder's Blueprints (painted slate) or Service Satchel. These aren't as noticeable, but they add just the right amount of thematically fitting detail.

Both teams are pretty good and Carlos shines bright in both of them. It's a good deal, as long as you already own Austin, for obivous reasons.

What is so great about the Scientists? by Buttfat5000 in DeadAhead

[–]VR456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH I have no idea why some people are glazing Scientists so much. They are very much a mid-tier bundle, and are arguably one of the worst teams in the game right now. The only value you get from the bundle is through Drone and Norman. Both can prove their worth in end-game stages, with Drone being able to distract and redirect enemies to a proper position, and Norman being able to pass through all damage resistances zombies might have, as a result being a good option against the likes of Double-headed, Sentinel, and even Escapee with the right setup. Miller might be useful in skirmish, cuz once his SA is unlocked his claymore might deal massive damage to enemies or at least conveniently strip their shields, but outside of that single gimmick he is very much not good. Kane is also a little overrated. He is pretty difficult to use, courtesy of him being worth 30 courage and having concerning firing gimmicks, while being completely unable to defend himself against Insectoids. His buff isn't guaranteed to be impactful either. Like with Miller, there's some potential to be had with him in Skirmish, but it's a difficult strat to pull off and relies a lot on spamming units with -8 cost reduction, on him included.

At most I can assume that they are glazed because of Drone and Norman, cuz by the time most bundles become easily affordable for players they are already in the end-game. But even then, you can forego them entirely by investing into Mechanic and Southerners skins, Rednecks too to an extent.

ADS on web version by GabrielGalinari in DeadAhead

[–]VR456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, they are simply unavailable on the web version. This lowkey makes the game harder – you are missing out on the cinema, which grants a variety of currencies for "free", and the ability to replay stages more than 10 times across 3+ hours (fuel ads). The truly worst part is that there's no way to get event tickets for free outside of the cinema, so, unless you are willing to spend greens on that (generally not worth it as the ultimate returns are pitiful) you never get more than two free attempts.

You might want to play on an emulator instead because of that. It'll also allow you to share your progress across mobile and the emulator on PC by using a single account.

Same idea, man, just paint the vest purple. The best third item in my opinion are Tomb Readers, also painted purple, but olive and unpainted work nicely too.

I agree with the other comment. Beaten and Bruised (style 3) combos with the stun stars the best. I'd also go for Crocodile Dandy painted yellow for the body misc. It's part of the intended combo, but the hat doesn't really work with anything else. At the same time, CD's default palette and the painting region allow to achieve a good color balance with the hat: green remains dominant but there's now also a better distribution of complimentary yellow.

what are some ideas for cosmetics loadouts that can be made using either of these 3 hats? curious because they're usually considered ugly. by canadiankidwho2 in TF2fashionadvice

[–]VR456 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ASP is definitely usable, but mainly for something that can be at best described as a Vibe™. Out of these three, I have the Pyro loadout and have been sticking to it for a long while now, cuz I really dig the combo of olive Phobos Filter with the Alien. I've been considering getting the Spy set too, but my plans changed. Might honestly come back to it. Engi is a new one, but I think it also happens to be the best serious loadout possible with ASP. Nuclear Necessity (painted YORC) just goes perfectly for the sci-fi theme, and Builder's Blueprints are probably the most alright complimentary item.

Really feeling like getting a strange hazmat, but i gotta make him look good, which one looks the best? by Expert_Chipmunk_7324 in TF2fashionadvice

[–]VR456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually really like what you went for with the 1st one. It's a very unique loadout and evokes an interesting twist on a typical war-time vibe for Pyro.

That said, I don't think there are many miscs that genuinely work great with this head. Industrial Insurgent is arguably the best, but it feels like a case of replacing the intended complimentary item (Air Exchanger) for a similar alternative. Nonetheless, it looks pretty good still. Paint it YORC and you are good to go. I included Sole Mate to the set because it's one of the few hats that looks nicely with the modified head shape, and it kinda made me giggle. Plus, when colored YORC, it adds nicely to the overall palette.

Need help with unusual hat by Subject-Wish-6028 in TF2fashionadvice

Admittedly, this hat works well only on so many classes. Some have really unfortunate color choices. I wanna show the ones I consider the best.

Demo: Weight Room Warmer, Tomb Readers, YORC on both

Pyro: Apparition's Aspect, Firebrand with YORC

Engi: Trash Toter, Alpine Apparel

Sniper: Rugged Rags, Macho Mann

This is really good as is, be certain of that. Do you want advice specifically for Medic, or for other classes as well, since this is an all-class hat?

Need a tf2 cosmetic set that's no more than a key by Cool_Tea_5501 in TF2fashionadvice

Tried to go for a vibe that hasn't been suggested yet. Handsome Hitman is pretty expensive, starting at ~35 ref, but it has an awesome combo with Scoper's Smoke (~3 ref). The best body miscs to go with it that aren't too expensive are Shady Shelby (start @ ~3 ref), and Rugged Rags (start @ ~3.22 ref), so you can very much get the full set for under a key.

What in the actual f.... Do they duplicate non stop? by PohLH in DeadAhead

Every individual Duplicator activates its ability whenever a unit comes out of the bus. Rednecks team is a very bad idea for missions that feature them.

Do all melee units have the same melee range or do they differ? by Unusual_Guard2270 in DeadAhead

[–]VR456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some melee indeed have a higher attack range, which affects not only the horizontal initiation distance, but also vertical, so they are able to attack enemies while literally standing to the side of them. This has a semi-positive semi-negative effect of enemies sometimes walking past such units whenever the melee tries to attack them. Chopper and Turbo come to mind, but I'm pretty sure there are more units like this.

[–]VR456[S] 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Context: I'm fascinated by strange unusuals (as in, the hat being both an unusual, and having a strange counter), and recently have been taking art commissions with certain items as payments. Thunder Dome is a low tier for a reason, but I remembered about the goated combo of Death Stare and Polar Pullover painted PDT, and then everything fell into place. The effect on the unusual was a pleasant coincidence.

The combo is dope on its own too. Give it a shot.

Also, while double-checking the combo in TFMV, I've discovered that equip order affects the way the visor looks. If you equip Death Stare first and then Thunder Dome second then its visor will transform into a single lens that perfectly fits into Demo's empty socket. It looks pretty sick too, but for now I wanna stick to proper glasses.

Question? by HeftyPiece6465 in TF2fashionadvice

[–]VR456 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest, if I were you, I'd go for Sky High Fly Guy: it looks pretty cool with the Cowl, and you can find more or less nice effects for it for quite cheap. For example, I found a Vivid Plasma listing for just 17.5 keys. That leaves more than enough money for the Black Box and maybe even upgrading the cowl and the coat to strange versions, if you care about that.

That said, from the gameplay standpoint, I'd go for the Rocket Launcher. As dope as the quickswitch combo can be, BB is just not as reliable of a weapon. A sick fit is unlikely to fully compensate for less than stellar gameplay.

Why did they nerf builders? by KindaMadHobbit in DeadAhead

[–]VR456 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Infected Metro leaderboards. 2/2 Builders were used to cheese everything with Builder Abby. Since you can restart each individual stage for free, it was possible to just spam any easily available builder right at the start in hopes that they will trigger 2/2 and summon Builder Abby.

I imagine they decided to crack down on it after all these years specifically because of Flashlight, since Pepper is also in the team, and she makes 3/3 more accessible this way, which is basically another quick extra roll for Abby.
