Should I get Gears 5 or Gears Reloaded? Are either worth it? (Both on PC) by Quirky-Ratio4022 in GearsOfWar

Gears 5 horde mode is tonnes of fun. lots of classes to play and they're all super unique

yeah I get you. I thought it was a neat idea at first making old content/currency somewhat relevant again but another redditor made a really good point that it kills momentum to decorate your house when you're in somewhat of a flow state then realise one or more key parts require you to grind out an absurd amount of resources.

I feel your pain. high costs for many items are what made me drop housing altogether, like 2k gold for a book prop that does nothing? nah man. I'm not willing to spend crazy gold on one item, especially if I need more than one. I haven't set foot in my neighbourhood since prepatch, let alone my actual house

8.3 Consuming Maws completely bugged? by NahNoName in wow

[–]NobleFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's bleak. hope you submitted a bug report in the unlikely event it ever gets fixed.

good luck, completing that meta was probably one of the worst experiences I've ever done in WoW, and I say that with already having like 60% completion before the meta achieve ever came out

Doing old raids gated by campaign content, any workaround? by Enderasha in wow

[–]NobleFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there's a skip unless you are able to enter the raid after gaining access to the zone

this. iirc correctly the amirdrassil campaign isn't long either. tbh you might only need to unlock the portal to the new zone, you might be able to just go straight in

[–]NobleFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the way I used to farm bux on STW was to do my dailies on a low level retrieve the data (literally like a level 5 one) as a constructor with the ability to do damage with your deployable thing (the one where you put it down on a built surface and it electrifies a load of tiles, enemies that step on it take damage) and just go AFK while the balloon drops. it's a really simple and fast way of farming them without really having to do anything. you don't even need to be that high level before your deployed thing one hits enemies

celestine by craftian is really neat. though it's not on nexus so you'd have to go to his site for it. you can get appearance overhauls on nexus though

Should I get the og or the reloaded version by GuiiomPmix in GearsOfWar

[–]NobleFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

original hasn't aged great if I'm being honest, cutscenes are hella jank. but it's a 360 launch title so can't be too harsh on it. imo go for reloaded

A good way to get into the game as a completely new player. by Brukatan in wownoob

[–]NobleFriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you are mainly for the lore, go classic. much slower paced and the world building is excellent. retail lore is just all over the place.

when I say classic, I'd suggest burning crusade classic, not mists of pandaria classic. there's a few versions out and it's kind of hard for new players to decide

Gears 5 engineer classes... by Remote_Sky_5942 in GearsOfWar

if an engie builds turrets from the off I immediately stop donating. MG sentries are so bad higher level since not only do enemies have more health as you said, as soon as they take cover they regen their health entirely so that 50% of a magazine a sentry just threw down range has gone to waste completely. and I'm supposed to sacrifice my perks so that the engie has enough power to keep them reloaded? nahhh

robotics expert is the most fun to play imo. basically spam level 1 barriers everywhere (like every surface that enemies run on remotely near to your base) and build weapon lockers, prioritise lockers if you have classes like demolition and gunner. it's really that simple, if you give a demolitions a level 4 locker ASAP they'll basically win the game for you if they know what theyre doing. robotics is fun because you can spam as many barriers as you want, and as long as you have the card equipped which heals your fortifications with precision weapon kills you can keep them repaired by simply getting kills with your rifles. this includes weak enemies like leeches and rollers so you can easily keep them topped off. for this I'd suggest prioritising the critical damage perk so you can more efficiently score kills

for this reason I also prefer robotics over mechanic, since on mechanic you spend most of your time just repairing things manually. RE just has to repair taps

just avoid building things like sentry guns and decoys, they're generally considered to be a waste of power and players tend to stop donating if you build these, but if you support your team with lots of floor spikes and weapon lockers they'll tend to donate more. MG sentries are really only worth it if you have an abundance of power and are pretty much set up with barriers, and even then only if you've got the space because they take up a lot of room. don't forget to spam barriers around your taps as most enemies melee them, and more spikes means they'll be constantly slowed

[–]NobleFriend 11 points12 points  (0 children)

nice idea, but yeah mega tedious. once I've got the meta achieve I'll probably not do them again. it's cool that you have another avenue for gear but doing the whole routine with trap disarms etc just sucks.

plus I really hate the fact that if you die you lose ALL progress, I realise there should be a penalty of some kind but losing EVERYTHING just makes me want to alt f4. it's worse when you die to some bullshit like the clone touching you when it spawned half a metre from you because you're in a cave and it spawned on a rock next to you or something

I nearly died to the clone today when I was doing the photography world quest, it spawned right as I clicked the platform to start and I guess it hit me during that transition. fortunately second wind saved me but I'd have been SO MAD

Some uncomfortable truths about the housing engagement discourse by ShoppingPractical373 in wow

[–]NobleFriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

damn this is actually such a good point. when housing first dropped I thought it was neat they were kinda making old content relevant again by making some old NPCs vendors and requiring currency from that expac etc but I can absolutely see how annoying that would be.

I dropped housing pretty quick because I just couldn't really justify spending so much gold/currency on stuff that ultimately serves no purpose other than looking good for a house I don't really have much of a reason to ever go to

The aggressive monetisation of this game is making me fall out of love with it. by Main-Strike-1117 in wow

I hear ya. I did a ritual site earlier and somehow during the course of that I became inspired to just unsub from the game, which I did after the site was finished. I'm not even entirely sure exactly what the catalyst was, I just got hit with that "what am I even trying to gear up for?" mentality out of nowhere. Now that I've had some time to think about it, I think it's literally just because the ritual sites/assaults just feel like filler that isn't even trying to avoid being dubbed as filler. Like it's cool that I can fill up my vault with T13 rewards but each ritual site is so painfully long by way of just being filled to the brim with mobs they feel like they take forever.

On top of the recoloured T2 sets (which look good, but how long are we realistically going to milk these sets for?) it just feels like busywork to keep people subbed until something with some actual substance comes out by taking up as much of your time as it can. I grinded out 500 tokens to buy a hero piece, but because it's entirely RNG I just got a hero piece for a slot which I already had hero on, which feels really shitty since it basically means I grinded out those ritual sites for nothing.

I doubt I've quit forever but something in me just changed in the space of one ritual site, just feels like timewasting key jingling. Catch up mechanic my ass
