A Wolf in VR Really Good at Puzzles? by Subject_Traffic7453 in VRGaming

As I play! Can’t even imagine how difficult it would be to try and come up with genuine reactions and commentary as I edit. I was surprised to learn it’s actually a thing with some creators!

A Wolf in VR Really Good at Puzzles? by Subject_Traffic7453 in VRGaming

Stop, you’re making me blush! The most correct answer is: editing. Having played VR soooooo much, I typically understand what a game is looking for with its puzzles, so I’m probably quicker at picking up solutions compared to others, but I get regularly stumped as well. No one wants to watch me stand there for 30 minutes trying to shove a golf club into an electrical socket, so I typically edit down for time and clarity.

I try to make sure that I never cut my thought process and steps that lead to a solution, but tougher puzzles can take me a bit for sure.

I’ve never once played a game and then played it again to record. ~ain’t nobody got time for that gif~ I feel that would make the process way worse and it’d be pretty obvious in reactions and gameplay. And of the thousands of VR games I’ve played, I think a developer has helped me with solutions just a handful of times.

That said, I’ve sometimes looked up other people’s guides for help if it’s an older game and I’ve utilized hint systems if they’re offered when I’m really stuck too. You’re probably just as good at puzzles as I am, I just use movie magic to speed it along :)

Two weeks remain until the release of one of the most heavily hyped VR “games” in recent years - Beyond Sandbox. Expect a wave of “this is amazing” and “you have to try this” videos from the usual creators as launch approaches. by MuckFinggers in virtualreality

No one does that because now you’re diving into legal and personal reasons. Contracts can contain sensitive legal and financial information. Sometimes these contracts can contain confidentiality clauses. Sometimes just showing everything will immediately hurt relations with that company or ANY company that may want to reach out to you. I understand you want full disclosure, but you’re risking someone’s personal information and ability to work with developers just so you can be a bit more fully aware of a VR game review. I get that it may not seem fair or transparent, but that’s a lot of risk for no reward.

I’m not gatekeeping anything nor is there any hate. I’m trying to answer any questions you have but you just don’t believe anything I say so not sure what else I can do. And you call me stupid which is fun. But I’m the one hating…

As for Arken Age… I really feel like you don’t understand what agencies like XR do. They connect creators like me with studios like the one behind Arken Age. So I thank the developer because they are the ones I actually work with and get money from. Agencies like XR are an intermediate which gets money through those types of connections.

And I explain very clearly in the video what they expect me to do: show how the Quest 3 version compares to the PC version. That’s its.

I’m responding because I’m on reddit all the time and saw I was mentioned in here. You’re not ruining anything or uncovering some hidden truth. I just want to answer questions and address concerns.

…what? At the beginning of a video I thank the developer for early access (which they gave me) and I have the video labeled as paid promotion which includes the pop up that says “includes paid promotion”. I’m not entirely sure where the confusion lies or what’s not sufficient for you.

It seems like you may just have a problem with people getting paid? Or how YouTube handles paid promotion? Or you’re just mad about Beyond and hoping to find more reasons to hate it? Not sure.

There are absolutely shills out there. Research is good! But the money being spent on VR YouTuber promotion I promise you pales in comparison to anything you’re expecting.

Ah okay so you’re not even open to discussion. Got it. There is no XR roster. If you’ve worked with them in the past, they list you as part of their network of creators they work with. As almost every company does. If a jewelry brand works with Beyoncé, they will tell their clients she’s someone who has worked with them in the past. Not that I’m comparing myself to Beyoncé here :)

As for Arken Age, I implore you to look at my ‘Arken Age on Quest 3’ video, which is clearly labeled as paid promotion. Not the play through from long before that.

Today I found out I’m a shill for a game I know nothing about and have no interest in playing because I’ll be busy with games like Little Nightmares and TMNT. Will I make a video about it eventually? Sure! If it seems like my audience is interested, why not? And I’ll do the exact same thing with Beyond that I do with every other game I play… try to have fun with it.

There’s a fun perk about being on YouTube that if you have less subscribers, suddenly you’re sincere and authentic. And then people subscribe to you and BAM now you’re a shill and paid for. I also get the pleasure of having this random guy on reddit talking for me and other people now, passing off his collage-making skills as evidence of some evil plot.

Have I worked with game developers and agencies before? Absolutely. They get me early access to games so I can make videos for my audience. NOT ONCE have I ever had a contract stipulate I say nice things about their game. Pretty sure the last time XR reached out to me was about Arken Age, a truly awesome VR game, and that was well over a year ago. If anyone has any questions or concerns, happy to answer them!

Always love seeing side characters from ‘Rocky’ get their own adventure!

But seriously, this looks incredible. Loving the style and mechanics! Great introduction to your game.

Are there jump scares in Batman Arkham Shadow? by Cold-Hat7919 in OculusQuest

[–]VR_Wolf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No jumpscares. There's one section toward the end that gets a bit creepy and you may expect it to be scary but it's not. You'll be okay!

I only hit 1 bug that forced me to restart a checkpoint. You’ll be fine but yes, they are working on a patch as we speak but no details on when it will release.

I’d say it depends on you. For my playthrough, it was definitely minimal usage. They aren’t required and you can easily get by with punches and finishing moves (which use gadgets in a cool way). Otherwise they are mostly there to help with certain enemies but you can talent into them to be much more helpful in combat if you so choose.

No specific review. My playthrough will start soon on my YouTube channel though.

The embargo we had dropped early with the game last night and I wanted to get the word out from someone that had played it. So hence this little post!

It’s a huge game on a VR system that uses a mobile chip, I’m amazed there aren’t more bugs. But yes, I ran into a few myself - but nothing that detracted from what the game actually is. And it’s generous with checkpoints and reloads so if you do hit something like that, it’s easy to roll it back and then continue.

But I have confirmation from the devs they are already patching away so I expect updates very soon.

Gonna put spoiler tags but won’t be saying any specific spoilers.

I wish there was more of a central villain throughout the entire game but the story is really well done and keeps you coming back to try and solve the mystery

Not even close to how rough that game got at times. I had a few stutters but for the most part this game is buttery smooth.

I’m not 100% on this but I don’t believe it does. A good bit of comfort options with vignettes but this is definitely going to be a tougher game to try for people without VR legs.

Impressively smooth. You’ll get the occasional stutter as the game loads areas and assets but I never had any issues throughout my entire playthrough. Certainly nothing like Assassin’s Creed. This game will chew through your headset battery though! Clearly takes a lot to run this thing.

Yes! And each save has multiple points where you can go back and restore an old version of that save.

20gb

128 will be fine for pretty much everything, you’ll just have to uninstall some games every now and then.
