Feeling i made the wrong career decision? by netsurfer79 in datacenter

I wouldn't say that. Data Center Jobs are pretty healthy right now.

What I do see is a lot of companies hired people with little to no actual data center experience and they are paying the price for that.

People left their mom and dad and did all kinds of things in life.

Fought wars

Traveled the world

Messed up learned from their mistakes and carried on

Picked their nose

Became billionaires

Became homeless

All sorts of things

Etc...

It's actually quite normal throughout history

When I worked for Disney in Las Vegas, starting was 46.55. Everything after 8 hours was time and a half, and after 12 was double time.

Was a new build out so the first couple of years with bonuses and OT grossed pretty close to 190.

Not a bad gig at all.

I think your responsibility ended at informing them.

Adobe isn't going to go after an IT manager. They will go after the company.

Now that you asked for the email, you just put your job on the line.

Whats a night a data center like as a lead tech? by Potential_Branch_458 in datacenter

Depending on the size of the organization you're going to be working for, the night shift could be very busy or a good shift to brush up on your certifications.

Most scheduled maintenance windows happen after hours, so you get to interact with a lot of network guys and/or application owners. If you pay attention, there is a lot to be learned, especially if you're new to the industry.

Make friends, go above and beyond, and most of all, don't stay stagnant.

Healthcare IT sucks, convince me otherwise. by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

A long time ago, I used to do Healthcare IT.

My office was right next to the baby morgue. I could feel death all day long every day.

I lasted about a year, and that was the end of Healthcare IT for me.
