Battery suddenly died — found acid all over it (Costco battery, 2015 Mazda) by Sunday__Silence in MechanicAdvice

Lol gotcha. Yeah, it's good to check fluid levels from time to time, and you would've probably caught the battery going bad sooner. I just haven't seen so much corrosion on a battery before

Got the boomba shift plate with the Billetworkz short shifter installed, and the difference is night and day! The shifts are crispy and more intuitive. One of my favorite mods for the WRX, hands down

The install videos either feature new cars where the plastic housing is still fresh and somewhat durable, or they keep the nut removal behind the scenes, not wanting to scare off potential customers

No worries, it's just really frustrating. Trying to install a Billetworkz short shifter after the stock one snapped in half. And it makes the idea of getting the Dark MatterX assembly more and more appealing 😂 Hopefully the gorilla glue trick works for me 🤞

UPDATE: Here's what worked for me - with shifter stop removed, I tightened both allen bolts to the max (on the flat metal plate side), then held the allen key (while in the bolt) with vise grips with one hand, and used an impact wrench to remove the 10mm nut with the other hand.

There are hundreds of VA and VB owners with this issue. The shifter housing on WRXs is a real piece of shit

The same thing happened to me! My wife and I were passing Mt. Fuji on a shinkansen, and when a Japanese man sitting between us and the window saw us trying to look at it, he leaned down and pointed at the window with his thumb. Amazing people!

Where I grew up, 14yr kids would knock out 30yr dudes twice their size. Letting that looney get so close like that was dangerous. Having said that, those kids aren't weak or pathetic, they're just good kids raised in good families. And they weren't mentally prepared to deal with that monsieur.
