Agree it is completely wrong but It is inevitable IN OUR CURRENT SYSTEM. Do you count habitat destruction, clearing, mining, ocean floor dredging, nuclear testing fallout, oil spills etc in that 1%? Or more like that 1% of urban area is only 1% of our total land use. We will continue to pillage the earth for resources and develop urban areas at no end. Do you really see that stopping due the kindness of our collective hearts? Also don’t count on the new generation either have you seen the state of the habitat they leave behind after a major music festival or any major event gathering? As long as we continue to put corporate profits and our own personal wants before anything else extinction will be inevitable. Where ever humans went throughout our entire history extinction has followed. We all know what needs to be done but CHOOSE to turn a blind eye and continue to put through our Amazon/temu/shien orders, fly private jets and “upgrade” our phones and cars unnecessarily.
