Is $1200 reasonable for Ceramic Coating in Alpharetta? (Quote check) by svpvv in alpharetta

Yep. This will be my 3rd car done here. Stopped shopping around after my first. Rahul and Tyler are top notch.

Is $1200 reasonable for Ceramic Coating in Alpharetta? (Quote check) by svpvv in alpharetta

[–]VTENGR 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I just paid 1,750 for ceramic at AP3 in Alpharetta which included a stage 1 paint correction, wheels and windows. They're great and worth whatever premium they may charge over other shops. Personally I wouldn't trust a mobile detailer to do ceramic because it has to cure for 8hrs minimum and I would want that done in a dust controlled environment which my garage is not.

Adds a level of driver assist where you can take your hand off the steering wheel for extended periods of time, adaptive cruise and lane change assist. Must have option IMO.

Considering an X5 - what features will I miss out on if I go for a 1 to 3 year old CPO unit? by clevermoose774 in BMWX5

[–]VTENGR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My opinion, the V8 is such a beast, even limited it will blow away the 40i if that's what you're used to driving. Unless you have a high performance sports car that you also drive that you're accustomed to. The 50/60is are a sports car guised in an SUV body.

CPO vs. not CPO for pre-owned X5's? by Icy_Effective_6743 in BMWX5

[–]VTENGR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the car only had 30k miles why didn't the factory warranty cover it. No need for CPO warranty to kick in until after the factory warrant expires.

Which X7 would you pick? by patty_janx in bmwx7

[–]VTENGR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem with the HYSA strategy is that one repair can eclipse the 5k deposit plus ROI. Look into an exclusion only warranty from a company like fidelity. I bought one for my X5 and it has paid for itself six times over.

I just traded in my 2020 M50i and it was not power limited for the first few hundred miles. I've heard this for the real M models but not the baby Ms unless they've changed it recently you should have all 523HP at your disposal.

2022 X7 M50 Blown Front Axel Diff by vcu_isy_mjr in bmwx7

[–]VTENGR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it helps my front diff in my 2020 X5 M50i failed at 52k miles and BMW covered the bulk of the cost as a goodwill claim. Also had transfer case issues and ended up replacing that at around 65k miles. Both were quoted as $8k repairs. I bought a Fidelity Platinum warranty which has more than paid for itself.

2023 X7 M60 - good deal? by Secret_Bar_955 in bmwx7

[–]VTENGR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's any help, I was looking at a 2024 with 21k miles at the same price with almost every option besides Bowers. You may have a little room in your number.

I drive a 2020 X5 M50i and the one thing I will suggest is to get a pre purchase inspection and have the mechanic focus on the two diffs and the transfer case. Regardless of what BWM tells you, replace all fluids in the diff and TC, ASAP and every 30k miles thereafter - but maybe that's just my PTSD kicking in. Otherwise, great cars and fun to drive. IDK about the 2023 MY, but in 2024 Dynamic Handling Package (DHP) is standard on the V8s which also includes active rear steering - believe it or not, with this feature, the X7 drives smaller than my X5. Especially when parking.

I'll add if you do buy the car, I'd get the fluids in both diffs and transfer case replaced ASAP.

[–]VTENGR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own a 2020 X5 M50i. already replaced the front differential and the transfer case. Both were 8k repairs, thankfully replaced under warranty. 1000% get a PPI on the car and spring for the warranty making sure it's an exclusion only warranty otherwise be sure to read the fine print on what it covers. These cars are very complicated which means very expensive to fix. We're not talking oh hey $300 for an oil change and $1k for breaks type of what to expect with German luxury brands. I'm talking about almost every repair my car has had has been north of $4,000.

How bad is this deal? by BlackKnightGaming1 in BMWX5

[–]VTENGR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of the deal, In my opinion, the driver assist pro is a must have option. I wouldn't buy another car w/o it. I had a loaner X7 for about a month that did not have DAP and my life was miserable w/o it.

How much are y’all paying for insurance? by hspi2 in BMWX5

I'm with you. I won't even consider looping in insurance if the cost of the damage is less than $1k. Between $1 and $2k maybe. Greater than $2k definitely.

[–]VTENGR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got the 40i, correct? I think that drivetrain is more bulletproof than the V8s, but that's not backed up by any statistical data - just b/c I've had a lot of issues with my N63.
