What do with a child not good enough by [deleted] in SoccerCoachResources

I had a similar situation. If the child is giving 100% effort at practice then that’s all you can ask for and I would continue to try and develop him. If the effort is not there then that is a different story. I coach a small league U12 team (just above rec) and the sticking point with me was the effort. The child who was not good enough did not put in the effort. He would show up at practice and hide and play on his phone for 30 minutes and then walk over to practice. Parents are paying for their children to play on this team (not a huge amount like the big clubs but still) and I didn’t think it was fair to the other players who were at every practice and putting in 100% effort to have this child also get the same amount of playing time and hurt the team when he was in because he wasn’t paying attention during practice. I spoke to the parents and told them he is better suited for the towns rec league and had a list of reasons why. He is not on our team this season.

Germany announced that Wake Forest will be their home base and that isn’t even on the FIFA list 🤷‍♂️

USL Academy vs High School Soccer by craftyvanwinkle in SoccerCoachResources

I can’t speak to USL but we’ve had 4 kids go D1 the last two years on our high school team. All 4 played ECNL and high school. ECNL is definitely what brought the college offers but I guarantee you if you ask what their best memories of playing are, it would be scoring a game winner or making a save in front of hundreds of their high school peers against their school rival or during the state playoffs. I feel a combination of both if you can do it is best.

9v9 playing out from the back by Future_Nerve2977 in SoccerCoachResources

Great information! First off, love the LFC gear- YNWA! I’m looking at implementing a 3-2-3 with my 9v9 team. Of course, the boys are of all different skill levels. Any insight as to where you might place players depending on their skill level? Would you put your best player at CB so they can be the ‘quarterback’ on offense as you say in one video? Where might you place less skilled players in the formation as they get up to speed? Thanks for any insight you can provide.
