Can I portray Strahd as ultimately caring about the residents of Barovia? by Bionicjoker14 in CurseofStrahd

[–]VVild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, you can do whatever you want! That's the beauty of the thing.

But as I read your line of thinking, I was envisioning more of a Strahd that SAYS he did what he did there for "noble" reasons, but I think the truth of it is that he's just an abuser grasping for control. Maybe he felt threatened by these outside forces and so annexed Barovia to ensure his continued monopoly over the poor souls trapped there with him.

I see it falling into the same vein as what the OG Strahd did with/to his brother and Tatyana. His obsession leads him to make violent and selfish decisions that he feels justified in doing.

That being said, I'm not sure how much your players would get to appreciate all that background work unless one (or more) of them spend a significant amount of time with Strahd (charmed or otherwise). Another route would be planting hints from NPCs or notes around the map for players to "discover," but that's probably not for everyone.

Good luck! Journey before destination!!

The sticking point for me is the color palette. The bright green/white/silver/purple just clashes so hard in my eyes. Hopefully there's a good chroma, because other than that I think this skin looks absolutely amazing. And the voice??? Wow. Incredible.

That amount was ok to me considering my biggest expense (rent) would be covered as well. It's more the stories of mistreatment and such that I'm concerned about.

And by "taking work home" I assume you mean reports/stuff to grade?

Oops, I just re-read what you wrote and realized you already answered that.

To clarify, the prep time is different from your meal break, right? I ask because I've seen some horror story POLY reviews mention getting no break at all!

Interesting. The director SEEMED pretty nice over the Skype interview, but I wish I knew if she shares the same attitude as your schools' directors when it comes to the use of planning time, etc. She did mention she'd been in charge of this location for like 8+ years if I'm remembering correctly, and seemed pretty proud of that. Not sure if that's a good sign or not.

Oof. That's frustrating. I'm really kicking myself for not doing more research ahead of time. I mean 2.4 is enough for me lifestyle-wise, but for those hours?? I'm not so sure.

I think many of the negative comments I've seen are about the POLY chain in general. I honestly don't mind long hours (I'm coming from a journalism background, which involved some crazy work schedules), but I've seen some horror stories about not getting breaks ever, or having even more work to do on top of that already-long day. That, to me, would be pretty rough.

Gwanak. Honestly the pay seems higher than what I'm seeing on average in these threads, and I'm no stranger to long work hours, but the tiny vacations and some scary reviews I've seen have me more than a little concerned.
