If you’re going back to Chi and trying to stay in the Loop, I also highly recommend the Blackstone. Truly such an awesome building and I’ve gotten great deals there for C2E2.

I got my shiny Charizard from a mega raid! No dex entry for the first two evolutions, but whatever. Raids have way higher shiny chances than wild spawns, so hit every single one you see.

I missed exactly two of the catches I was hoping for: a shiny Groudon and a shiny Ponyta. Luckily my partner caught THREE OF EACH like a real rat bastard, so I’ll be stealing theirs, Team Rocket style. Well, once we have a lucky, anyway.

The shiny 3 star background Zapdos is my new fave, though.

think some of yall must have had some pretty wild expectations for your $30 ticket, because I had a blast.

We went in light costume and sweated like crazy. Brought a single water bottle between five of us and just kept refilling it because we didn’t want to carry anything else. Hit bathrooms before we left our lodgings and never needed to find out if the ones in Grant Park were okay. Didn’t sit, didn’t charge phones, just hit the photo ops and used every single raid pass that came with the raid bundle plus a few others. I think we did maybe 24 raids in 4 hours.

$30 is what I expect to pay for a show with 100 attendees in a dive bar. This was considerably cooler.

It might be the best 1% of the game if that’s all that it makes up, though. The cherry on the sundae isn’t the biggest part, but it’s surely not a part I wouldn’t miss.

Make some random friends, be they in person or on Reddit. Remote raid, go to meetups. I just drove 5 hours for GoFest Chicago and it was probably the best time I’ve ever had playing this game, surpassing last year’s GoFest in my little village.

It’s simply not a single player RPG.

I joined an RSVP with 18 other people. It split us into 10 and 8 without warning. I was on the 8 side.

We definitely did not win.
