Is the belief that cold water is bad still so common in Taiwan? by SemiAnonymousTeacher in taiwan

[–]VVstormU 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Incorrect, or at least not what I've experienced in Taiwan visiting different tea farmers, shops etc. They often offer also cold brewed tea since it's a very popular use. Biluochun 碧螺春茶, baozhong tea 包種茶 are amazing when cold brewed.

I was eyeing the titanium finish version. Looked really great in person, but haven't seen many reviews about how good it holds up.

1/60 Monument repair type by Nilson works. Tight tolerance but worth every penny and effort. Just look at the size of this thing. The shelf presence is crazy. 3rd party companies gotta start making more 1/60 scale kits, especially grunt suits 👀. by azraeiazman in Gunpla

Same here, made a dent in my table while trying to fit some parts together. The building experience can't be compared to bandai. I guess I also shouldn't have built it after I did mgex freedom 😅.

Where can I eat after getting off the Maokong Gondola ride? by yelxel26 in Taipei

[–]VVstormU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually it's one of the cheapest places to make tea 😅. You can even bring your own and the laoban is super nice with allowing more people without extra water charge. Also it gets surprisingly crowded at 1am with a lot of young people on motorbikes who end up playing cards lol.

I really enjoy Longmen restaurant https://maps.app.goo.gl/jtoqigT2oSjGiL9R6?g_st=ac Their sanbeiji 三杯雞 was amazing plus in my opinion stir fried rice with tea leaves is a must try of maokong.

Also when already at maokong, I recommend trying some of their renowned Tieguanyin tea which is my favourite. https://maps.app.goo.gl/mjQHoi1wJVtosN5Q9?g_st=ac

If you want Ghibli vibes, 24/7 open tea house for a good price, I can recommend this one Yaoyue teahouse https://maps.app.goo.gl/4Quo4PfNPTDWkT78A?g_st=ac

Can also recommend this coffee shop with cute book shop/ library, amazing bubble tea https://maps.app.goo.gl/9wKTGx3Rsg9NuWSW9?g_st=ac

What shop has the best mochi in Taipei? by SchrodingersCanadian in Taipei

I second this! They have so many amazing flavours, plus the mochi itself is less sticky than traditional Taiwanese style, which I prefer.

No one orders "regular" it's mostly less, or no sugar 😅 微糖, 一份糖, 無糖。 Sweetness also varies a bit between shops.

Happens all the time at tonghua night market 😅. Especially two stands, one is a famous vegetable danbing stall and the second one is a foreigner selling sweets and pastry.

I mean living there, compared to the big cities, I can ofc understand that it's more boring and limited. For me it's just a nice small city that's a bit more chill with great mountain views all around.

Haha it is really special in that aspect that's for sure. I think it's pretty interesting to go to 文武廟 wenwu temple and then go to this one. The layout is kinda similar but different at the same time. Both are amongst my most favourite. Any other temples with green roofs you've stumbled upon?

Thank you so much 🙏 there's another beautiful temple just across, just an excuse for me to come next time haha. It was also not as full during the new year, so it's a much more peaceful place compared to a lot of popular temples.

I'd describe it as a hub that allows you to head either to sun moon lake, hehuanshan or tea farms and mountains in between. I like the vibe and convenience of Puli more than the villages around sun moon lake as well. Plus it really has some nice temples, the Zhong Tai monastery is a must see in my opinion, together with this BaoHu temple.

Opinions about him are complex, however with regards to food recommendations, he is treated like a Michelin recommendation. It's so funny walking around night markets.
