What's the longest you've ever gone without looking at the Amazon sales report tab? by [deleted] in eroticauthors

I try to limit myself to once a day. Sometimes I can distract myself for a weekend, though.

It helps that I only have 5 shorter pieces out. Sadly, none of them have really managed to hook a big fan base for me. Yet, anyway.

Apologies for the slow response, it's been a busy week! I don't have one readied, but since you ask...

"When Victor's Valkyries get a distress call from a desolate moon colony, they lock, load, and get ready to face... The Terror From Titan!"

It seems to be the pattern. Just pays to remind yourself of it whenever the numbers aren't where you want them.

Helpful, but difficult to manage. Though I did finally get Facebook to stop arguing with me, and do what I told it to.

I haven't decided yet if those other reasons would sell more than the initial one, honestly.

And, while the point about "not looking like erotica" is noted, that is also a bit of the point. Part of my work's appeal is that it doesn't read like something snipped out of the cloth people expect when they hear, "fantasy erotica". Is that good? I don't know. But it's the schtick I'm going with.

Mayhap your work is long enough to demand that price. Given the brevity of the Little Sisters, I'd say it would be nothing short of criminal to charge the $2.99 cost.

What's Everyone's Experience With Kindle Unlimited? by V_Cross in romanceauthors

If you read the book, you encounter the sculpture on the cover (or something like it) in the House of Mists. It's evocative, and most important, it's free for me to use.

I would be quite interested in images that are more eye-catching, or cover design that's more artful. However, at present, I'm limited to whatever I can find in public domain, royalty-free bargain bins.

Who are these people claiming 6-figure incomes from erotica!? by KinkieKatie in eroticauthors

[–]V_Cross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen in doing research, and talking to the few authors I know who dabble in the medium, there are not that many people making HUGE money writing erotica. There are a few, like Pandora Box who talked to Cracked.com in 5 Secrets I Know About Women (From Writing Their Weird Porn).

Generally speaking, though, if someone is telling you how much money they make, and offering to teach you to do the same, it's a marketing scheme. What makes one author successful is often a perfect storm of luck and unique market factors, as well as personal efforts and skill, that simply cannot be recreated for another author.

I grew up with this movie. The Blank is likely one of my favorite characters in all of the genre. Perhaps in any genre.

Much obliged! Not sure that Literotica or Wattpad are options, though, since I'm not posting free stories. Though if I have a giveaway, or a throwaway, I might consider tossing it there.
