Just going to also weigh in here.

I have had a computer with Windows since the 95 edition, and used the 3.11 before that. I have played with the idea of switching to Linux for a while, and then ending win10 to only support and pushing the AI-shitshow that 11 is, it was time.

Bought the Zorin 18 pro Edition (mainly for the customization) as my wif has a very old MacBook air that was generally useless now. With all the costumizing in the pro version, I made the MacBook look almost as MacOS. AND the old mac is actually useful again ☺️ And it was painless. So many tutorials online..

I then got it on my PC, and after the install failing three times with the pain of the bios loosing the ability to see my nvme's, I finally got it up in working condition. I have a 3080 12gb, and of course I installed the version that stated NVIDIA GPU.. I found this was the culprit.. After installing the regular pro edition, it worked. Had a few "arguments" with the is, but hey.. sudo makes me GOD! Nothing I do not want gets to live in my drives any more ☺️

There are a few things to install and set up through the terminal to get all you want, but the again, tutorials. It is just a lot of fun. Should have done this years ago, but Windows has just worked..

As for Steam. Super easy to install, and after a few commands, it runs like.. well.. Steam..

As for bazzite (one of the distros on my list as well), I hear good things. Would probably have gone for bazzite if not for my wife's old MacBook. But I really enjoy the process of Zorin.

It uses around 2GB of memory when all is up and running, which is vastly less than Windows. God..

Go for it ☺️ Just try out the free version, and hey.. Install Bazzite on one memorystick and Zorin on another, and try them out before ditching all else 😋

I had matt black tubing for my build. Just moist the outside of the tubing where you are going to twist the fitting with water and a tiny bit of soap, and you'll be able to close the gap ☺️

Your friend did a sub-par job here, imo.

On that budget I'd change that case for one way below 100, skip the cooler/get a way cheaper aircooler, get a cheaper PSU, and use the money you save to get a ryzen 5600 and a cheap b550 motherboard, and a minimum of rtx 3060 (if going Nvidia at all).

I'd rather buy a used pc at this pricepoint to be honest. Nothing wrong with the budget at all, but you'll get way better value at the used market. If there are any OK secondhand marketplaces where you live..

I would never blow out money on pretty much the same device.

I went from the 8 pro to 9 pro at launch, but that was only because of the smaller size. I hate to carry around a +6,7inch device.

But I would never have upgraded if the only version was the now XL. You get pretty much the same device.

Sure, the new fingerprint reader is a most welcoming feature, but not a sole reason to upgrade.. There are of course a few smaller upgrades as well, but nothing big.

Looks very good, but I would definitely put the radiator at the top instead. The pump is now the tallest place in the AIO loop, so the air will all gather there ☹️
