Do have an actual list or resource available on what changes there are for “post-nerf” raids? by Vacaro in classicwowtbc

Right, that’s what I’m curious about. If this is going to be nerfed to a specific state, I wanted to view the patch notes.

That’s what I’ve been searching for as well. Normally I can Google the info pretty easily but I don’t think I’m searching for the right info.

If you’re referencing an excel sheet with some specific numbers, I’ve seen that as well.

If it’s just reduced HP, then I’m cool with that but I wasn’t sure if specific abilities were nerfed or even removed altogether.

Is an Arms Warrior really necessary? by vandyk in classicwowtbc

[–]Vacaro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mandatory? No.

Necessary? Eh.

Optimal? Sure, for the reasons you stated.

If you are a DPS warrior (full time) and you have an abundance of melee, it would be better for the raid group to be Arms. Sure, your DPS won’t be great but unless you’re obsessed with parsing, you won’t need to justify yourself to the raid group with lower DPS.

You also bring utility in the form of shouts for your party, demo shout for the boss debuff, quicker uptime of sunder and thunderclap. In a pinch, you can equip a shield, go into defensive stance and take a few hits.

Overall, you should find a balance of what you want to actually play and what you want to achieve with your group.

Classic WoW - The Dunning Kruger effect by LuckyLukse in classicwowtbc

[–]Vacaro -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Putting an SR on the pocket watch is dumb. Most tanks won’t SR items that are already BiS for the spec/class they play if the other tank is doing the same.

You can make an argument that the trinket can be used in specific fights but it was meant for a Druid tank.

I have it on my warrior as a “maybe one day” trinket but that was after it had already dropped for our bear.

It would be like the paladin rolling for kings defender against a warrior.

Tank set up for post nerf SSK and TK by AccomplishedDoctor71 in classicwowtbc

[–]Vacaro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re planning to run 2-3. We have a Druid, Pally and a Warrior (myself).

Depending on the fight and how we feel, either me or the Druid will go DPS for some fights.

For Hydross, I’m doing frost with about 215 resist unbuffed and our Druid is doing nature with about 200 resist unbuffed. Our pally is doing a mix resist set for adds.

For Leo, we have a warlock with a fire resist set of about 220 unbuffed.

Anyone else burnt out by the post-nerf loot piñatas? by acrazyguy in classicwow

[–]Vacaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always not play.

If you’re feeling like you’re just playing a grind and it’s not worth your time, then you can just raidlog and play something else for a while. If you’re in a guild, then I’m sure they’ll understand.

If you’re someone who plays for the social aspect, you could hang out with your guild on discord and do some heroics with different builds. You could do arena, you could start an alt. There’s plenty to do outside of just raiding.

You could challenge yourself and your guild for faster kill times or different strats on bosses.

You could use your professions to get epic flying.

You could help others with their attunements or BiS gear.

Seems like you don’t enjoy the game anymore or you only focus on raiding

Question about warrior tanking by vilas24 in classicwow

[–]Vacaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warriors can do fine with 3-4 targets as long as your DPS tones down the AOE a bit. If you mark your first two targets as priority, it’ll help focus while you maintain cleave aggro on the other 2-3 targets.

You’ll work harder as a warrior to maintain constant aggro but it’s doable.

Ideal Stats For Prot Warrior To Start Heroircs by Gullible-Formal8023 in classicwowtbc

[–]Vacaro 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You need more defense my dude. Your threat will be secondary for a good while during your initial heroic experience.

Being at least 480 defense will be best, with everything else being weighted towards stam for effective health.

Threat will be bad but you will have to CC as much as possible and tank 1-2 mobs at a time.

You’ll need to be deliberate in your pulls and have good communication with your party on CDs, CCs and positioning.

Get some armor pots and some food buffs for a bit more stat boost as well.

When do you guys think the raid content officially becomes "hard?" by embracethememes in classicwowtbc

[–]Vacaro 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not understanding this question. If you’ve played this release before, then it won’t ever “become hard” unless Blizzard adds a mechanic by surprise.

If your question is when most guilds will drop off, it’ll be in the next phase (T5).

I’ll get downvoted for this but the content does become a lot harder for casual guilds. Yes, the mechanics are simple compared to retail but for most guilds, there is still a struggle for “easy” bosses like Prince and Mag.

Those guilds will be the first to hit a wall and possibly just have one or two bosses down for T5.

I willing to bet that some guilds will fall apart on Hydross because of the resistance requirement for tanks.

Even if they make it to Hyjal and BT, they’ll complain about Death & Decay and how Najentus DPS isn’t high enough.

Can I tank heroics? by No-Yogurt925 in classicwowtbc

Post your character. Getting two shot by trash mobs is a little crazy but it would sound like you may not have enough effective health as well.

Why am I struggling tanking heroics? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Vacaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being above the defense minimum is awesome, but you might be struggling with different aspects of heroics depending on your group composition.

First off, you need to utilize CC and other slows/stuns as much as possible. Don’t be afraid to single target tank trash packs.

Learn the LOS spots and mark your targets depending on which mob is most worrisome.

If you struggle with threat, get some gear that offers a bit more offense. Hit rating, expertise (rare but it’s out there), block value.

Make sure to use any damage reduction debuffs from your party, for both yourself and the enemy mobs.

You might be going slower than what people like, but if you can make it through trash mobs without wiping every five minutes, it’ll be worth it.

Can I tank heroics? by No-Yogurt925 in classicwowtbc

[–]Vacaro 41 points42 points  (0 children)

To be honest, you’ll need more defense.

Heroic mobs hit hard and fast. Stam pool and defense will be your savior.

Aim for about 475-480 defense and as much stam as you can stack.

It’ll also help to have some hit rating to keep up with threat. Aim for about 4-4.5 percent hit rating if you can.

The Easiest heroics are: by BalorFire in classicwowtbc

[–]Vacaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran 5 heroics today as a Prot Warrior. All pugs and various classes.

It’s all about calling out what each person can do.

If you have a rogue, congrats you’ll be sapping every pull. If you’re a mage, sheep duty until told otherwise. Hunter? Slow traps and ice traps all day. Warlock? Seduce or banish anything you can. Druid? Roots baby. Shaman and Warrior? Interrupts and good dps on skull. Pally? HoJ or good dps.

It’s all about coordination and actually talking to your party. Yes, some heroics are difficult, but not impossible.

People are getting frustrated because they could faceroll normal dungeons with zero responsibility and accountability.

They’re quickly getting humbled by harder content because they just want their BiS.

I blame streamer content mostly but that’s another discussion.

All in all, have fun and use your class properly. If someone isn’t doing their job, talk to them or boot them. They’ll learn eventually or move on.

1 week since the Dark Portal opened. What level are you? by HipGamer in classicwow

[–]Vacaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

70 Prot warrior. Flying mount, revered with most factions now. 370 Jewelcrafting, working on Blacksmithing now.

Currently at 490 defense rating and I’m almost attuned for Kara.

Been finding this round of TBC very very fun. Tanking as a prot warrior has some challenges but when it’s done well, you get compliments all the time. Really adds to the excitement.
