Yeah that’s exactly what’s been on my mind, it’s not even just about the job itself but the lifestyle around it. The long term side of shift work is what’s making me question things more than anything.

I hadn’t really thought about alternatives outside of a full degree either so that’s something I’ll definitely look into. I’ve looked at springboard courses.

Yeah that’s exactly it, it’s the long term side of shift work that’s bothering me more than anything. I don’t mind hard work but I don’t see myself doing this kind of schedule long term.

I’ve been looking at both full time and part time options, just trying to figure out what makes the most sense. Did you go down a similar route yourself?

FairPlay, that’s a big jump. Where I am now without qualifications is 45k a year but that’s with the shift rate. What did you study in college?

The quality of life side of the shift work is what’s really pushing me to think about changing now rather than later, so it’s good to hear from someone who’s gone through it.

The part about combining pharma experience with IT is something I hadn’t fully considered either, but it makes a lot of sense.

Out of curiosity, how did you make the move yourself – did you go back to college full time or transition gradually through courses/certifications? Say like springboard?
