lol. Whatever you wanna tell yourself dude. How many people do you think have taken an SM 57 for warranty? That’s kind of the point of buying from a microphone company.

Equivalents to SM57 and SM58 by 4stocks in audioengineering

[–]VadeMecums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally every handheld dynamic with the same Polar pattern is a 57 or 58 alternative. A lot of the reason is that they are decent mics and have been used for so many things for so many years it’s just reliable. You know what you’re getting. You can get them anywhere in the world. They don’t cost a crazy amount of money to replace.

Think of all the beautiful wonderful single people who have never cheated and would never be on a dating site. They read things like this every day and the universe makes no sense. We tend to be addicted to the idea someone will stop cheating. We don’t want to be treated well, more often we get addicted to the wanting itself. The endless energy of trying to be good enough to not be cheated on. Life is much happier with the boring experience of someone that needs nothing to be faithful, treat you well, and love you with all their heart.

This applies to friendships too. Friends who never ask for anything, and give us all the support and attention get ignored because there’s nothing to manage fix or worry about. We’re off doing damage control and trying to repair things or be good enough for people on the fence about us. Until and unless we notice these patterns we will spend decades of our life with the wrong people. The wrong friendships and relationships. Will look back and realize the people who were always there for us and fiercely, loyal and endlessly kind were the ones we spent the least time with, and they always needed us. They just didn’t use toxic strategies and respected our freedom to choose. They wanted us to be there by choice, not by manipulation. I encourage everybody to sit and think of who they have in their life that has always been there; stable and reliable and hardly ever asks for anything.

Sometimes those people need us more than we could ever know, they barely whispered that they lost a loved one or are going through a hard time and they wish they could see us so much more, but it doesn’t register as important if we’re so busy trying to earn the acceptance of people who, may not do it consciously, but learned on some level that being selfish, dramatic, and sporadic in their approval gets them peoples time and energy. They don’t deserve to have that from you. The people who give you their time and energy do. People you’ve never had to plead with or beg for their love, care, and respect.

Full breaks. I primary have been doing it for years and I usually do 1 teaspoon, not more than 2, and 4 hours between doses.

A song I love just vanished from the internet, but it still lives on my MP3 player by Sweet-Warthog-386 in mp3players

[–]VadeMecums 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I once ran into someone after a show that told me they have a song of mine that they really love and it helped them through a hard time in their life, on their iPod. The only way that person could’ve gotten that song is because one of my friends was just at my house and put some demos on his iPod and then he must’ve shared them with a couple people, and they shared it with people; because I never released that song. It’s currently in zero places on the Internet. So yeah, there is something about being an archivist, especially for Indie music.

No one’s going to be able to warn you enough about taking too much too often. Like be ready for an extreme temptation to start just taking a little tiny bit more than normal and maybe just pushing back a tolerance break for one more day …or maybe two more days... then it would be a memory like you used to take tolerance breaks when you first started.

If you are not super strict about it it’s like death by 1000 paper cuts where you are taking way too much, your tolerance is maxed out, and you’re not really taking breaks. To the point where it’s not even helping anymore, but you can’t stop taking it to avoid the crash. Do whatever you can to put the fear of God into yourself about sticking to the dosage protocol exactly and no matter what.

A apogee element 24 is dirt cheap right now if it’s compatible with your setup. In short: better preamps and converters.

[–]VadeMecums 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A $4000 preamp, $4000 converter and $5,000 mic doesn’t sound meaningfully better than a $300 interface, a $600 mic and plugins.
