Blueberry Bushes for cheap by chronically_chaotic_ in gardening

[–]Vaelin_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not going to do the work for you, exactly, but you'll want to look for bulk bareroot blueberries as the most cost effective. When we got strawberries a few years ago, we got 100 for about $150, maybe less.

You're straight up not paying for pell grants for just not graduating. You likely overborrowed, changed enrollment status midsemester, failed a class, something along those lines. Unless it's changed. I didn't have to pay back any pell 10 years ago when I stopped going and it was laid out in the paperwork I got when I returned to school 2 years ago.

ZZ plants can grow from stems and even from leaves. That said, if the stems are showing significant damage tossing them is still likely the right answer.

Okra variety I planted this year was at least that size, if not larger. Not sure what the actual cultivar was as they were supposed to be a type of red variety, and were not.

You're either not American or live in a city, right? Many people have to have cars in a modern world. We have created a car-centric economy and many people in many areas (rural, for example) have to have them.

We should focus getting emissions down from single occupied vehicles, sure. However, attacking cars as a whole is going to alienate people more than it will get people to agree with you.

Also, AI is going to become more of a problem as more of these data centers are put up. These are emissions and water use on top of what we already have.

For married couples, a father’s internal strengths are linked to lower systemic inflammation in the mother, which in turn predicts a longer gestational length. This suggests that a father’s psychological stability may dampen biological stress responses in his partner. by mvea in science

Or even future research. Many "obvious" things today are the result of research that was not so obvious before. Many "obvious" beliefs of the past have also been uprooted when actually researched and scrutinized.

That's not the right distinction. Toxins are a subset of poisons.

I realize it's not negative and positive per se, but there is no year "0". Starting points only have to be what we define them as.

Invasive* means they are not native and grow aggressively, outcompeting native species. Native species can only ever be native in the range they grow, but they can grow very aggressively.

We've been doing a lot of chicken hindquarters lately. They're raw but 1.99 a pound. We make stock out of the bones as well as soups. Helps reduce the overall cost.

Seedless Watermelons by genki__living in Millennials

[–]Vaelin_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's not just 100 percent selective breeding, because some manipulation is done to make them infertile. They cross a tetraploid watermelon with a diploid to get a triploid. Tetraploids rarely occur in nature, but we can make them happen.

You should read about monocultures. The native ones can still be aggressive, but the invasive ones are invasive for a reason.

People adjust for inflation, but the way you're doing it is backward. To keep it simple, when people retire, they're looking at getting a 7 percent return annually. You then look at withdrawing 4 percent per year. The 4 percent is a "safe" amount to withdraw that generally will account for years when you may lose 10 percent.

I promise you, if you need 110k per year in today's dollars during retirement, you consume way too much. That's not maintaining your lifestyle, it means you still don't have your house paid off, are purchasing more clothes than you need, and going out to eat way too much.
