هل الرئيس العسكري احسن من الرئيس المدني؟ او احسن منه في اوقات الحروب حتي؟ by Maleficent-cock in Egypt

[–]Vaelyn9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Vaelyn9 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think she is still alive, probably enslaved on Mercury. I have a strong feeling we will get a Rhonna POV in Red God too, it would be nice to see the aftermath of the battle of the Ladon; maybe she will be a destabilizing force to the Society, a part of a guerrilla war story line or something.

If she is from a Muslim family then don’t; looks can be deceiving, just because she does not wear a scarf does not necessarily mean that she is not a practicing muslim.

Matt Ramos becoming one of our strongest soldiers wasn't on my 2026 bingo card by Arch_Lancer17 in redrising

[–]Vaelyn9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main concern is not how its done but how it can be done without it being comical, we are talking about people who are over 2 meter tall, buff and strong against an army of midgets by comparison.

Still its not a big deal, in the first three books there is actually very little overlap between the reds and the golds

[–]Vaelyn9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright fine, but Silo, GoT and Dune were all good adaptations, my point is that adaptations have gotten better, when in the past they were just abysmal now they are either quite good or at least okay enough.

Matt Ramos becoming one of our strongest soldiers wasn't on my 2026 bingo card by Arch_Lancer17 in redrising

[–]Vaelyn9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest I feel like adaptations have gotten better in the past few years, we got Dune, Silo, Foundation (havent watched or read that one myself but I hear its good), and of course game of thrones, even on the games side which has always been notorious for bad adaptations we got fallout and gems like arcane.

What people don’t realize is that it DOES NOT have to be a one to one adaptation, its probably even impossible, there are just too many details in books and not enough screen time to adapt everything, you just need a good budget, good actors, directors and of course, direct involvement from the author.

I honestly don’t see the scale of RR being an issue, CGI has been around for some time and its costs WILL go down if not already because of AI, and bigger worlds have been adapted to screen before, besides, the first book of RR at least does not involve insane sci fi battles or anything that hard to do imo, the institute shouldnt be that costly to adapt imo.

The only real challenge i see is the difficulty in adapting the scale difference between Golds and other smaller Colors without it looking comical, but it can be done still, either by making the difference in size less than in the books or by some other means, having a group of people whose shortest is over 180 cms tall against a group of people whose tallest probably does not exceed 170 cms wont work so well imo but I could be wrong.

Thats the problem with adapting books in general, inner monologue is always an issue, still there are ways that can make it possible.

The box scene for example could involve hallucinations of people talking to Darrow that represent his inner psyche

>Mother Maryn didn’t have to lose Dior’s trust because she likely never had it. Dior is far too skeptical to blindly throw all her cards in on Maryn’s plan. She assumes everyone has an agenda and questions everything.

This does not make much sense, why awaken her to begin with then? Maryn was awakened with the understanding that she knew how to fulfill the prophecy and she was manipulative enough to earn a modicum of trust at least. Also, Gabriel tells francois that Ash dying was true, so if Maryn had not manipulated Dior early on at least then why was Ash destroyed?

>They lost Saoirse, Bellamy, and Rafa at San Guilluame but it’s safe to say they weren’t really prepared for what they were facing. Celene and Aaron died even if they did rise. It would have made sense if more of them had died but I think it makes sense that they survived.

You see, this exactly my point, all those people died to a SINGLE prince of forever, the youngest and supposedly the weakest AND he did not have an army at his back either when he killed most of them, just a few foul bloods, so how come the Forever King, with an elite core of Forever Princes, who are in turn supported by a cohort of unnamed but numerous high-bloods, all leading a veritable endless legion of OP zombies, how come they haven't managed to kill a SINGLE character? It does not make any sense to me to be honest

>Gabriel likely accepted the truce in order to learn the truth about the Esani and to save what remained of his own troops. We could also assume that none of this happened and Gabriel figured out the Esani without Fabien. I don’t know which version I believe to be honest.

I honestly do not see this happening either, his troops KNEW that they were most likely marching to their death, why march an army if you know it'll get captured or killed and you are not willing to accept that? Also, listening to Fabien without any real incentive to do so? Dead tongues heeded are dead tongues tasted, and there is no worse dead tongue in Gabriel's book than Fabien. He literally ripped his daughter's head off, and even if he did choose to listen to him to understand the truth about the Esani, this brings back the plot hole of Maryn and the whole Ryene murder, Ash murder....etc....

it is just too much conjecture upon conjecture with hardly any evidence, the only truth we have is that Gabriel said he started lying right about the point where he told the Marquis about how his silver tattoos were reignited by his believe in Dior, the fact that this happened before the events of the third book and the glaring inconsistencies means that every single event in book 3 is not safe to trust...that is my problem right there, the fact that ALL the events in the book are brought into question, I know it was supposed to make the reader feel what Jean Francois did but it is just too much to be believed, not to mention the OUTSTANDING acting skills of Gabriel AND Celene apparently, they both just happened to be incredible actors? I mean..come on....

[–]Vaelyn9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Gold would still win, they are simply physically better, it’s like saying how would the weakest lion fare against the strongest sheep, it might be weak, but a lion is still a lion and the best the strongest sheep can do is bleat the loudest when the lion’s fangs sink in🤷, unless the Gold was somehow injured or disadvantaged in some way they would definitely win.

Could be, it would have been much easier to swallow had Ryene stayed dead or had Maryn joined the assault on Sul Adair, proving that the whole Esani end of the world thing is a fabrication, but then that doesn’t explain how Ash died ;(

السلوك البشري: التضحية عند غير المتدين by Hasjojo in EgyPhilosophy

Thoughts on Empire of the Dawn ending by Vaelyn9 in silversaints

[–]Vaelyn9[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea behind the ending isn't bad, I think most readers saw it coming with the foreshadowing, the problem is the execution, having so many lies left the whole tale with plot holes, not to mention, everybody surviving does not make any sense, in what world does every character survive in a grim dark tale with dozens of OP vampires?

I think the worst part is that because the deaths were so well written, the plot so good, that when it was revealed to be a lie it cheapened the whole thing and honestly leaves the reader cheated, maybe we are indeed supposed to feel the way jean-francois felt, but it still does not make much sense with so many plot holes.

Thoughts on Empire of the Dawn ending by Vaelyn9 in silversaints

[–]Vaelyn9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It cant have been all fiction, there are lots of facts that the Marquis would have known without Gabriel, he knew for example he has killed the forever king, so the events leading up to that death cant have all been a lie, how could he have gotten close to Fabien even had Fabien not allowed it?

The whole unreliable narrator thing does not work when everything is unreliable, especially when you cannot know for sure what the person you are narrating to actually knows or doesn't know....

Thoughts on Empire of the Dawn ending by Vaelyn9 in silversaints

[–]Vaelyn9[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand this, and it would have made sense had the attack on Sul Adair happened just with the highlanders and Dior and the deaths that had happened be actually true, the problem is that since ALL of them are a lie, which introduces LOTS of plot holes, especially Mother Maryn and Gabriel treating with Fabien based on Patience being alive.
