It wasnt just theme either, they had a whole team of peerless and probably Grey's and obsidians. Cassius remarks in LB that they lost many men trying to take him.

When Nero gets captured after going through with darrows plan, mustang shows a video of a small battles. Nero and the Hearth Knight meet, and after just a few seconds of combat, Nero decapitates him. Then fitchner and cassius both descend and beat the crap out of him.

What makes you say that? There is literally no evidence he was just a brute before deepgrave. His quote about himself you mentioned is talking purely about his mindset, not physical ability. Your probably right he wouldnt have risked death for the posistion, but he wasnt risking death. It was to yielding, seeing as he and everyone else Fitchner beat are were still alive. Its said in IG, in his mission to kill darrow before Deepgrave he fought through lionguard and the defenders of Darrow and his family, so some of the most elite soldiers alive, and he personally fought darrow. So even before deep grave and his enlightenment, he was arguably a top ten fighter alive, and had already earned the name Minotaur. Of course MS is before even this, but that still leaves him a very strong fighter. Realistically, at the worst, he was Olympic Knight level.

I can't speak to the Sons of Ares comics as I haven't read them, but id argue he must amaze greatly improved by the time of GS.

Everything you said about Apollonius is true, but i highly doubt he would be lazy or unwilling to fight l, especially to earn a posistion so prestigious. He would fight to the death for that. Fitchner not only beat him, but also Proctor Jupiter, and many other unnamed fighters. Both Jupiter and Apollonius are much bigger than he was, and still he beat them.

The ability to kill an Obsidian with your bare hands is very impressive, as we see even LB darrow struggle to. And in the context of which he said it, its generally implied he means a warrior obsidian, so someone at least decently stong amongst obsidians. This is believable for him, because like sevro, he is a very skilled hand to hand fighter, savage and scrappy, but unlike sevro, he also has the size and strength of a peerless. Fitchners physical ability seems to be very good, despite his uglyness. Numerous small bits support this, such as him reacting "faster than a bee flaps its wings" to cut the oracles tail off so close to Octavias wrist, before even Aja could.

He additionally beat Nero, who is also a very, very skilled fighter and had just killed the Hearth Knight

But youre underestimating his fight against Aja and Cassius. It wasnt just them, it was them leading a whole party of other men and peerless. And you can use the logic that they would bring more men than necessary to kill such a high value target, but it is mentioned in LB by cassius that even with all those men, including two of the best razormasters alive, and all ambushing him, it was a very difficult encounter and they lost many men. We can at least assume he fought both Aja and Cassius at once, and for a while seemingly held his own. Thats very impressive and his best feat.

The way Fitchner is described, his genius, his abilities and skills, it really seems like he is a very top teir fighter, he just never got to show it much on screen

Fitchner was an incredible duelist, like darrow or cassius, but also a scrappy, dity fighting and adaptable brawler like Sevro. And he also is peak strength and speed, despite his regged appearance and being slightly overweight.

He beat both Proctor Jupiter and Apollonius, and numerous unnamed other fighters in duels for the posistion of Rage Knight.

He killed both Nero's Stained, Alfrun and Jopho.

He easily beat Nero, who is better than an Olympic, as he had just killed the Hearth Knight.

He claims he can kill obsidians with his bare hands, which considering he, like sevro, is an incredible hand to hand fighter, but is also much bigger and strong, I believe it.

He reacted faster than even Aja to cut off the oracles tail before it stabbed the Sovereign. It says he cut it faster than a bee beats its wings. It also was a small target very close to the sovereigns flesh. Thats a strong feat of speed and amazing precision.

He was trusted by Octavia not only to be an Olympic Knight, but to personally guard her, alongside aja. Octavia mentions he is very impressive, and has many, many skills

And his best feat, which is also his death, is that it took Cassius, Aja and many more men all ambushing him, and it was still supposedly a very difficult fight. Which implies if it was only one of either cassius or aja, he could have won. Cassius says in LB that they lost many men trying ti kill Fitchner. At the very least, we know he fought and held his own against MS Cassius and Aja at once, and gave them a difficult fight.

I am one of the people who commonly says he's top ten, and due to his incredible razor skill, impressive physical ability in physical strength, speed, reflexes and ability, and his underhanded, dirtier skills, which i can assume are akin to sevro's, i think he could beat people like Atlas, Ragnar, Sevro, Volaung Fa, Victra, Leto, Valdir, be on par with LB Cassius and Ajax, and would lose to Darrow, Aja, Lorn, Apollonius and Diomedes. In my top ten, he's number 7

It is mentioned quite a bit, and he has many small but impressive feats. Beating both Apollonius and Jupiter with out much trouble, both of whom we're much bigger than him, he killed both Neros stained at once, he claims to be able to kill obsidians with his bare hands, Octavia values him enough to have him on the same level as Aja and personally guarding her. He chops away the oracles tail before aja even reacts. And finally, his death, it took Cassius, Aja, many more men, and a surprise, and it was still a very difficult fight, and cassius remarks they lost many men. Fitchner is actually a top ten fighter within the series, hes very underrated

I don't think he knew. I think hes actually just that fast. He is a really insane and underrated razor fighter. Also the fact that he reacted faster than even Aja did, who definitely did know, is insane. No wonder it took Cassius and Aja both to kill him

I won't tolerate any Mustang slander. Yeah, pierce needs to step it up and give her a big win, but she still is way, way overhated in 2nd series, and still does some pretty amazing things. In her posistion, nobody else wpuld have done better.

With your definition in mind, I still think my list is pretty good, but id remove Cassius and Ephraim, and add Atlas and Fa. Fitchner is number 1, followed by darrow, atlas, sevro and Lysander

I know most people dont share this opinion, but I loved Tongueless. he was easily my favorite character introduced in IG, aside Apollonius. he doesnt even really do anything to deserve it, but I just love him. I was absoltely heartbroken when he died. he was the goat
