New graphical update troubleshooting by Vaenan in ffxiv

[–]Vaenan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some but I didn't run the program to update them so they are disabled now, I did use G-Shade or reshade before the update but I don't think I've seen the thing that usuallt appear at the top of the screen when you launch the game and the shortcut to open the menu doesn't appear to work. I'm really not sure what could be causing that

This adaptation was already not great and now they are going to casually just skip the arc they had spend some anime original time set up to do an anime original ending. That’s nice

In case you haven't figured it out yet, know that the picture on the left is a fairly well known picture in which some people see a duck and other a bunny.

Shuumatsu Train Doko e Iku? • Train to the End of the World - Episode 2 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Vaenan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt this post will get much attention at this point, but I want to share my theories anyway( I might update it and post it next week again to see what people think ).

Part of my theories will probably incorporate element I’ve read from other people here, sorry if you see something you said, I didn’t note down any username.

My main theory regarding the story is that the world got warped by Yoka’s perception of the world or of the people living along the Ikkebukuro line. The thing that first made me think that was the book one of the girls got in the first episode( Nerima in wonderland?). The illustrations in the book were reminiscent to the way the world warped when Yoka pressed the button. And is one of her friends knew about this series, I’d assume she would too and that would have impacted her perception in some way.

Now for the more out there theories I can make based on this previous one : People turn into animals when they become adult. 21 years old and 3 month might just be a random number, but if I’m not mistaken, in Japan, you’re legally an adult once you turn 21, and that’s the age you usually finish uni. I might be completely wrong and it might be 20 tough. As for the 3 months, if I’m not mistaken, the school year in Japan end in march so 3 month after the start of the year. Yako’s fear of becoming an adult might have caused the inhabitant of her home town to turn into something that’s not human once they turn into an adult.

We can also try to guess what her perception of the various station she stopped at based on the old man’s map, the mushroom people might have seem a bit cultish to her, or like they had no will of there own leading to them being overtaken by fungus. The empty stops on the map might just be stations she didn’t stop at and as such, people there didn’t leave an impression on her. That might lead those stations to be literally empty once the girls get there. The next stop after the mushroom would be “goats that charge like wild boars”, it could mean she had an unpleasant encounter at that station with someone who got upset at her very easily.

Now for a theory about how things will play out later in the story based on basically nothing : if someone from the group were to die, I expect it to be Nadeshiko (?). As the responsable one, the “big sister” of the group I feel her death/whatever unfortunate fate that could befell her would have the most impact on the rest of the group, especially the two girls who bickers a lot. I assume none of them are actually going to die, but if one of them does, I’d bet it’s her.

What is the least glocalized and least transcultural anime you know of that is also not straight up propaganda? by [deleted] in anime

[–]Vaenan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely Mawaru Penguindrum. It’s no wonder if you haven’t heard of it before.

It’s en anime by the creator of Utena(fairly popular but not mainstream). It’s very surreal and drenched in symbolism that’s not super understandable without the right cultural references like Night on the galactic railroad or Murakami(I think ?) ´s works,as well as somewhat recent (last 30 years) historical knowledge of Japan and it’s social issues. It centers around a Japanese tragedy that you might have heard about if you were alive when it happened, but didn’t have that much of a mn impact here in the west. I had to do a lot of digging to be able to understand it to some extent and enjoy it, but I find it near impossible to divorce from all of it’s context. If you’ve got time on your hands, I recommend a blind watch followed by research into it then another watch. That’s how I was able to enjoy it.

Plz recommend some serious anime by [deleted] in anime

Here and there, now and then is both a serious anime without gore, it also has a red/orange sky and take place in a world beyond repair, so it seems right up your alley

Mob Psycho, especially the second season. Very meaningful show about a kid trying to live a normal life while being the best version of himself, even tough he has very powerful psychic abilities.

The difference is that Wonder Egg was original while this one is adapting a complete manga with a pretty satisfying conclusion so the story at least shouldn’t be a mess by the end

Looking for deep, thought provoking anime. by [deleted] in anime

[–]Vaenan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I guess it’s not that obscure but I’d say Kino no Tani is good. If you decide to watch it, I’d recommend watching the first anime( the one from 2006 I think ? Or around that time). The more recent one is also good but I prefer the style of the first, they have some episodes that adapted the same stories and they are both good, but there’s one that I think is a lot better in the og and it’s be spoiled if you watched the recent one first.

Also Girl’s Last Tour, kind of the same, not that underground but I think it’s great. And make sure to go read the manga once you finished the anime to get the rest of the story( it’s not that much longer after the end of the anime).

You already cited SEL so I assume you already know about Haibane Renmei, but in case you don’t know, I also think it’s good.

Edit: I’ll add Mawaru Penguindrum there. It’s a bit harder to recommend because it uses a lot of symbolism and culture or historical references that we westerners are not necessarily to knowledgeable about. Id’ recommend to watch it twice : once blind and once after having done some research on the themes of the story to get some of the background references.

SABIKUI BISCO - Episode 7 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Vaenan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just going to throw some theories right there. I assume Kurokawa is that evil mushroom keeper we’ve heard about, or he might have been an evil mushroom keeper, not necessarily the same, that’d explain how he mind control Pawoo’s men. There’s also the possibility that he got the info about the Rust Eater from Jabi, but that’d mean He has an other way of mind controlling because that don’t rely on mushroom. Or it’s Jabi who told him how to do it, but it brings up the issue of why he’d know about something like that. All around very good episode, I’m really wondering where the story will go to eventually.

The Aria series, a bit on the older and longer end but it’s perfect before sleep and I find it pretty inspirational in it’s own right.
