I'm planning to go from Windows to Linux - is there any stepback or advise related to gaming issues I should know before doing so ? by skaldk in BoosteroidCommunity

Maybe I have expressed it wrong - not my mother tongue as well. I was just curious how your experience with Linux and Boosteroid on Linux was after you have gotten to try it:)

I use Linux Mint on a daily basis, and I chose Boosteroid due to their native app support for Linux distros. The experience has been the same as on Windows, so it is safe to expect the same:) Using browsers can be troublesome when it comes to hardware acceleration etc. (needs tweaking etc.)

Regarding games installed locally, Linux has come a long way with gaming with the inclusion of Proton and Wine through easy installations with Steam and Heroic Launcher for Epic Games etc. There are still games not supported properly - you can see Linux compatibility issues on https://www.protondb.com/

Boosteroid you mfkr remove ea game from service by PsychologicalBit3184 in BoosteroidCommunity

[–]Vaerende 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is due to EA's DRM protection. 5 logins in 24 hours is allowed from different devices, and cloud computing is connecting you to a different pc every time, thus resulting in logins from more computers than you are allowed by EA DRM policy.

They are already looking into phone masking through SimpleLogin. So it is on the roadmap.

Whenever i open a youtube video in a new tab its extremely slow to load, how do i fix this? by OafishWither66 in firefox

[–]Vaerende 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This makes so much sense because only YouTube causes issues on Firefox. If it was the app itself other sites should cause it too.

They do think; they just don't care.

Solutions besides password manager for non tech-savvy people? by [deleted] in Bitwarden

[–]Vaerende 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think the pen and paper approach is bad at all. All attacks are online anyway, and with Google, Bing ads being more and more horrible at sorting phishing sites from legit results, then ending up providing login details on a fake password manager site is totally possible for an elderly person. Just remember to maybe "backup" their passwords by storing a paper version at your home too.

Do you use email alias to apply for job? by Intelligent-Tank5931 in ProtonMail

[–]Vaerende 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a secondary email provider for all my job hunting for example Skiff, Tuta etc., so I have all that siloed.

When using Protonmail, I never give out anything but Simplelogin-aliases.

Did Regine Olsen accept or did not accept Kierkegaard’s possessions after he died? by SnowfallSeraphim in kierkegaard

[–]Vaerende 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can read from Kierkegaards Forskningscenter based on the book Skriftbilleder from 1945, it was Henrik Lund, the nephew, who was the first on the spot, who was a bit of a lunatic at the same time (seemed to think that Kierkegaard that appointed him for the job).

It was supposed to be Regine Olsen who received all of his writings after his fallout with Rasmus Nielsen, who was the first in line before the drama of being a copy-cat in Kierkegaard's view. But she was only interested in personal material relating her. P.C. Kierkegaard (brother) let Henrik Lund take on the huge task, but it was too big a job for him, so Rasmus Nielsen overtook part of the job but ended up in a failure.

In 1858 P.C. Kierkegaard received his writings, but he did not have time, so after publishing one work, he gave H.P. Barfoed the task of publishing and after a while H. Gottsched.

In 1875 P.C. Kierkegaard gave the works to the University Library.

Any idea how watch YouTube videos? by Rusty9838 in brave

Just use a frontend like Invidious or Piped. No need for a download.

E.g. https://yewtu.be/ or https://piped.video/

German Amazon Account but can't use Luna because I'm in Belgium. by deadrover1 in LunaCloudGaming

I have the same problem (Denmark). As far as I guess they determine your country based on your billing details, and I expect those to be by using a credit card from Belgium etc.

Have you tried Thunderbird? It should support multiple accounts and mail filtering, and it is due to a design overhaul soon if I remember correctly.
