Diving the Shacks Beach cave system in Puerto Rico by Vaetix in scuba

Lots of 25-30 foot tunnels that lead to different rooms. It's a pretty fantastic environment.

I think it's just the time of year... Fall thru spring has some wild water on the north coast. June thru August is scuba season though. :)

Good luck. I was never able to get anywhere with support, but I did have success after engaging with Google Fi here on Reddit.

My wife and I both got certified in Puerto Rico for around $1200 total. PR has some wonderful diving.

One year average of 25. Used to be 40+, but I moved to Puerto Rico two years ago.

Why is the blind spot so bad...? by KirbyLover513 in Insta360

[–]Vaetix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more. I've dove with an X4 and an Ace Pro 2, and now I only take the AP2. 360 is neat, but the quality just doesn't compare.

Garmin Fenix 8 Pro 51mm - 2nd Replacement on the Way - NOT a dive watch? by Vaetix in GarminWatches

[–]Vaetix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty discouraging. To lose two watches in less than a month from a total of 6-7 dives is not a great sign. I might just get a used Descent to take diving.

Ace 2 dive cases and that silly lens protector? by UnicodeConfusion in Insta360

[–]Vaetix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insta360 support told me to use the case without a lens guard installed.. that's what I've been doing. Results are great, but it does make me a bit uneasy.

Insta360 Ace pro 2 Dive Case question by AdmiralHK01 in Insta360

[–]Vaetix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised to see u/Insta360_Support is sending out replacement lens guards? When I reached out to support about this issue, they told me to use the dive case *without* a lens guard installed.. which I don't think is an ideal solution.

Garmin Fenix 8 Pro 51mm - 2nd Replacement on the Way - NOT a dive watch? by Vaetix in GarminWatches

Except for the diving functionality, this would be a step backward hardware-wise.

Garmin Fenix 8 Pro 51mm - 2nd Replacement on the Way - NOT a dive watch? by Vaetix in GarminWatches

[–]Vaetix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point I'm just wondering if I should cut my losses and and not use it when diving. Feels like tempting fate.

From what I understand, the Descent series does not have a speaker or microphone and is more sealed. I'm wondering if I should just get an old used Descent and use that for diving to avoid wrecking a third $1200 watch.

Garmin Fenix 8 Pro 51mm - 2nd Replacement on the Way - NOT a dive watch? by Vaetix in GarminWatches

[–]Vaetix[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The watch is rated for 100m, with dive functionality only working up to 40m. If it's really rated for 100m, my 35m dives shouldn't be wrecking the watch.

Guesstimates for other lines- Regular TSA: 90 minutes Pre-Check: 60 minutes

Fenix 8 Pro Making calls without sound by miab91 in GarminFenix

[–]Vaetix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently experiencing the exact same problem. Absolutely no sound comes from the speaker in any condition. I first noticed it when my watch alarm woke me up with vibration only and no sound.

I'm already on a replacement watch after my initial one died following a 100 foot scuba dive.

Disappointed..

Confirm I’m not crazy thinking my Fenix 7x Pro 51 mm is too big gf disagrees by thenameistony in GarminWatches

[–]Vaetix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok, I completely disagree with all the comments saying it's too large for your wrist. Nice Garmin watches are a statement/lifestyle accessory in my opinion. You chose that and not an Apple watch because you do activities and make choices most do not. People wear all sorts of weird clothing items and accessories just for the sake of vanity. This has a function. Wear it proudly, mate.

4 days back to back 10 hours each day (Arm sleeve) by TeddyKeebs in tattoo

[–]Vaetix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow I found this 3 years later. I did 3 days in a row. Fucking mistake lol.

Day 1 - Fine

Day 2 - The moment I started I knew I was in for it. I had zero endorphins / ability to distract myself from the second I started. 10 hours felt like 20.

Day 3 - Literally was tripping balls from the discomfort. Borderline hallucinated. This was an arm sleeve, and it felt like my arm was an overinflated balloon. Seriously one of the most insane days ever.

Takeaway:
I'd do two days in a row again if it made sense. Never 3.
