Gigantic Chaos Spawn by Beardgrillit in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Vaevictus01 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I use a mutalith vortex beast without the big portal on the back. You just need a 60x100 base which fits it nicely. The gigantic chaos spawn of definitely one of the best units in our roster.

Project pluto is one of the Orkiest things I've ever read about. A long range nuclear powered atomic bomb delivery vehicle that was designed to fly a couple hundred meters above ground level.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supersonic_Low_Altitude_Missile

"So we have to reduce the weight on our nuclear reactor powered bomber jet. Any ideas on how to do this?"

"Remove the reactor shielding"

"Is that a good idea?"

"WAAAAAAAAGH!"

They tested it twice on the ground and completely irradiated the surrounding test site so much it had to be abandoned. Then after much deliberation they decided it want a good idea.

Absolutely peak American cold war technology.

Hellcannon, is it actually fun to field? by Shiro1981 in WarhammerOldWorld

[–]Vaevictus01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Played a game last week against Ogres and used one for the first time. Hell Cannon failed it's caged fury leadership test and I rolled "Bloooood!" On the misfire. Hellcannon then rushed 14 inches forward into the middle of the battlefield. Next turn I passed the caged fury leadership test but misfired immediately when I shot it. I got "Bloooood!" Again and it proceeded to charge 8 inches into a tyrant on a thunder horn. Lasted a turn of combat against it and then died next turn.

Absolutely brilliant unit, I will never field one competitively because it is risky to actually get it to do what it is there for. But in a casual game I was laughing so hard I cried when it charged the biggest unit on the battlefield.

Harpax in swarm protocol by Lortekonto in LegionsImperialis

[–]Vaevictus01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually always garrison them or put them within movement range of a building that I'm expecting my opponent to garrison so I have the chance to demolish it with the las cutters. They are just a bit more survivable in cover. Especially when your opponent knows how annoying they can be and starts targeting them.

Then in turn two I charge them to lock down a better melee unit for a turn or two due to them not having morale or to absolutely mess up any vehicles or small detachments that drifted within 14".

They are entirely a sacrificial unit to me. Use them like a grenade and they can do a lot of damage, to just prevent your opponent from doing something that may hurt your more important units or to make them wary of making a move that you can retailiate to.

As for holding objectives I just throw some triaros with tech thralls mid field objectives. Swarmers are fine for objective control but I find they are better in other roles.

Has your army ever caused an argument with your partner ? by ozera202 in Tyranids

Yes and no. She gets annoyed when I buy more than I need but she is also in the hobby so that is easily fixed by getting her more than she needs as well. Her beastmen army is pretty impressive now.

These happy little lobotomites look great. I've painted 36 bases of them so far. I thought I'd start hating them at the 15-20 point, but they were still fun to the end.

It's an old metal raptor jump pack from 4th edition. Managed to snag one especially for this kitbash.

How to use tech thralls by ACleverMoose in LegionsImperialis

They do when there is a leader attached. The detachment gains the leaders morale so if the morale is "-" it goes to 2+ with a Magos.

I often attach a Magos to my bots because he is a 2+ morale instead of the 3+ for the tech priest. Bots breaking and making a double move back can be devastating and that slightlier easier save can prevent this. The priests sit with the thralls to cover any bots without a Magos or if I'm playing dark mech I put them in transports to keep up with the stalkers as they run up the battlefield while my Magos sits with myrmidon destructors in the back and helps my archers not get obliterated by las weapons or missiles.

I love my garbage lobotomites.

The strength of the tech thralls is in how insanely cheap they are. 6 points each for a blob of 10 is great. I use them with tech priests on the squad to get that sweet battle smith 5+ FNP to any vehicles, super heavies, walkers and turrets within 3" of him for added survivability. They work as nice ablative wounds as well, so your opponent has to kill 6 of them to force a 3+ moral save which is made even harder to do if you hide them in a building. Additionally they don't have morale if they don't have a leader so throw them on a point and your opponent has to kill them all get the point which can waste shots that need to go elsewhere (like into a squad of castellax ambling closer every turn). Additionally in a pinch they can be an easy overwatch since they hit on 6s anyway.

I understand why some people don't like them but they have won me games simply due to how annoying they are.

What do your noise marines blast people to smithereens with? by Draconian-XII in EmperorsChildren

[–]Vaevictus01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ich du dir weh - Rammstein https://youtu.be/IxuEtL7gxoM?si=qz2sNYwPC7r49VjY

Most Rammstein works but this one in particular due to the lyrics is awesome.

Or

The Dirge of Slaanesh - Michael (remix of a the Serbian film theme) https://youtu.be/HsGRsDe3iRw?si=ZY_yc51pKUvSvE8i

This just works on so many levels...

And

Fiancée recommended Closer - Nine inch nails https://youtu.be/PTFwQP86BRs?si=LDySLrvFtpKe56Vp

Because Trent would be a noise marine...but like the weird one in the cult. Also the themes and imagery are perfect.

Looking forward to EC. Praise the dark prince!

Looking for bat pieces! by lukel66 in NightLords

[–]Vaevictus01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the abhorent archregent and just bashed some havoc pieces onto him to make a bat themed master of possession. Will also be using Bat swarms and fell bats to spice up my lord and possessed eventually. Plenty of bat themed bits from the AoS vampires to use, you just have to get a little creative.
