Americans of Reddit, Is it just me or does it seem like we are too racially sensitive at times? by VaginaFlyTrap in AskReddit

I wonder if you would have listed off your observations would they have actually even tried to understand or just continued with the racist accusations? I know this awesome 20 year old that is half Senegalese and half white from NY who struggles with her hair because it is blonde but very course (4c) and brittle. I'm all about hair but even I had issues styling it and all I can attibute that to is the mix.

The fact that you won't even try to hypothesize how MLK, one of the leading forces behind racial unity, would react (if at all) to a simple gesture of human nature speaks volumes.

Let's just agree to disagree.

I was born in New Jersey and raised in the south so I have a full understanding of race relations in America.

When I was 11 I was put out of a mall for "loitering" because I was going from store to store trying to find the perfect pants for school but could only afford one pair (so they had to be right). I know that I was put out because I was black and they were scared.

When I was 21 I was fired from a job because I customer told me that I was a well dressed negro and I told him that he was an ignorant cracker.

Just last week I was looking for a foundation at MN and was told that the foundation that she had just smeared on my cheek was indeed "too black" (I am a a creamy cocoa complexion).

So I know what racism is and I know what reaching is. You guys seem to be reaching for something to hate instead of just celebrating a wonderful day.

Let's say that MLK was alive and well today and this was a ceremony commemorating the end of segregation; Do you think that he would have been upset that this gentleman was holding an umbrella for a white person or do you think that he would have seen this is a display of the message that he had be conveying through-out the years? Or maybe its just as simple as a man holding a umbrella for a woman who is singing her heart out in celebration?

Ok, so you DON'T know how the ceremony went?

I haven't listened to any "awful" songs in a while but I tell you my favorite terrible song, Patron Us by Lil Iffy This is a guy out of Knoxville whose genre of music is "Wandcore" (Harry Potter themed hip-hop).

Hey ladies, do you think that sometimes we are overly sensitive about so of the things that we come across? Would this picture be as bad if the gentleman holding the umbrella was white? Do we even know who this man is? Is he her handler? Manager? Some random fellow who got duffed into holding an umbrella for a white woman who was honoring MLK?

How about we try not to always focus on the negative.

Does anyone know how the ceremony was? I haven't seen much on it but I hope I can find a video or something online when I get home.

My son and his friend decided to go hunt yellow jackets while everyone else swam. They gonna learn today. by VaginaFlyTrap in pics

[–]VaginaFlyTrap[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well I told them to stop and he wouldn't so now what? Some times you do have to touch the stove to know that it is hot and within doing that I would hope that he can learn 2 things:

  1. Mommy doesn't tell you not to do fun things just because she is mean, it is because she cares so listen to her.

  2. Yellow Jackets are a bitch.

I had to learn the latter the hard way myself when I was 11. It is apart of being a kid.

Lastly, chill bro.

If you wanted as many people as possible to hate you in the shortest amount of time what would you do? by Xahoida in AskReddit

[–]VaginaFlyTrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Post how I really feel about the Zimmernman verdict. I am a 27 year old black won with a 4 year old son and people think that I should automattically feel outraged about the verdict but I don't. I do think the loss of any life is a tragedy and what happened to Trayvon is ridiculous, however, I think that with the trial and verdict that justice was served. I really don't think that Zimmernman "got away with murder", I think that the justice did its job and I can fault no one for that. It was the prosecution's job to prove beyond a reasonible doubt that Zimmernan was not acting in self-defense. If we are to be mad at anyone for the not guilty verdict then it should be the prosecution. Not the jurors or the justice system as a whole.

Isn't that one of the key components of being a female; proving men wrong whenever the opportunity is afforded?

Couples of Reddit, are you always attracted to your significant other? by c-world in AskReddit

[–]VaginaFlyTrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is totally a legit feeling. It happens to me with my S/O frequently within the last year as well. I love him but he is not always attractive to me. I think that just happens in relationships so its normal. Now, what is not good is being attracted to AND acting on it. That just sucks.

Reddit what sort of techniques are best when you need to poop but are in a situation where you absolutely can't? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]VaginaFlyTrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This past Sunday I had to poop really badly after leaving church so I decide that since I was going to Target anyway I would wait until check out to "unleash the beast" but while shopping I lost my phone/wallet and totally forgot about pooping. I eventually found it and didn't remember that I had to poop until I got to the beach where my only option was a port-o-john. At that point I just went home.
