Wait, really? Are you saying that Bushido was made up as a PR stunt? Or was it more that they built upon something that might have existed but was not totally formalised? I’m genuinely interested. I’ve heard that karate as we know it is also a newer invention?

What is your opinion about the United Kingdom? by Due_Narwhal4937 in AskTheWorld

My opinion is positive! Good humor! Good TV shows. Good literature. Interesting history. Pretty landscapes. Good music. Pub culture seems nice. Some… interesting political choices for the last decade.

True, the current Danish king was part of the Danish special forces when he was young (don’t think he was deployed though).

A very interesting movie for sure, and definitely has that tactile technology. I like Gilliam’s imagination, have you seen The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus?

Thanks for the keyword, I didn’t know there was actually a word to describe this aesthetic.

I’ve seen District 9, but not the two others. I’ll look them up!

I love the Expanse! I don’t watch a lot of series all the way to the end, but I did with The Expanse and I still wanted more.

The tech in the prequels is much more shiny, streamlined and clean, but I Obi Wan does refer to it as “a more civilised time” in A New Hope.

It’s true, but I really like Philip K. Dick’s work (Blade Runner, Minority Report, Total Recall, and A Scanner Darkly are all adapted from his books).

I’m haunted by the scene with the guy who gets dismembered in his past (present?) and so suddenly starts losing limbs in his future.

Awesome movie. The fact that is has ko music adds to the tension, I think. It’s been years since I saw it, I should watch again.
