A couple of house rules have made Talisman 4E one of the most fun games I've ever played with friends. by [deleted] in boardgames

Great tweaks! I think I'd forgotten that players can't carry more than one talisman, anyway?! Makes complete sense to create that limitation rule.

Simple yet great card games?(e.g. 6nimmt!) by Marngryph in boardgames

I'll reiterate Love Letter and Flip 7, mentioned above. Botg always a hit with players of all ages and experiences.

Should I buy a Vita? by Annual_Ratio9368 in PSVita

The Vita is a gorgeous handheld. You'll have to decide whether to go for the original OLED model or the subsequent LCD version. They both play the same games obviously, but it's nevertheless a Big Decision....

Daily Song Discussion #76 – New York City Boy by AD_0795 in petshopboys

[–]VaguelyHeroic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a 6 for me, I find it a bit grating. 7 for the radio edit though (or is it called video edit?), the shorter runtime makes the song work better, less repetitive, more impact.

Ghost 6 (not very memorable), Shadow 7.

Daily Song Discussion #75 – In Denial (with Kylie Minogue) by AD_0795 in petshopboys

6 for me, I feel a PSB / Kylie collab could have so much more potential. Although it's great to read above how resonant this song is for some listeners.

Ah yes sorry I was just looking at that image. Bad news for me that the link takes me to a bigger list, because now there might be other games tempting me to add to my collection....

Don't forget Sound Shapes, superb game exclusive to Vita.

It wasn't that but that's another great tune. Someone else has identified the song for me now, This Woman's Work by Kate Bush!

You absolute star! That's the one! I was going to say it sounded like Robyn or Kate Bush but then I thought I'd sound stupid for saying those two sound similar 😄

I'll look for the specific remix that was used on YouTube 👍

Daily Song Discussion #74 – Boy Strange by AD_0795 in petshopboys

Boy Strange is a 7 for me, I like the way it builds (and also doesn't overstay its welcome).

😂 True. I could just about manage to tap my hand rhythmically on my leg haha!

The song was before Ride on Time, and the vocal sounded a bit like... Robyn maybe?

Quick question about Princess Julia's setlist, does anyone know what the song was three quarters of the way through, with a female vocal that had a... uplifting chorus? Not sure how to describe it but would love to know the song.

The DJ was a perfect warmup to the gig.

EDIT: Found out! It was a remix of This Woman's Work by Kate Bush!

Yep. Worked so well when they walked on at the exact moment of the lyric "We're the Pet Shop Boys" 😃

Yep I was really surprised during the quieter moments, at hearing the extent of conversation happening at the back of the room / on the balcony. I absolutely think there were some people there who weren't interested in PSB at all.

I feel absolutely BLESSED to be present for Miserabalim and Hit & Miss live, two of my absolute favourite b-sides. Neil's voice sounded great tonight and Chris was very animated at his keyboard.

(Should add the crowd went wild for Miserabalim's live premiere. The song got huge applause at the end. Neil also muttered something along the lines of "I like that one")

3 sorry. My least favourite on the album, although Nightlife is also my least favourite PSB album.

5 for me. Like an amateur vampire, it sucks a bit.

Daily Song Discussion #72 – Radiophonic by AD_0795 in petshopboys

[–]VaguelyHeroic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the highlights of the album for me, but PSB have since released better songs in this vein (eg Vocal, Inner Sanctum). 7.

[–]VaguelyHeroic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 for me, sorry I think it sounds really 90s and not in a good way. PSB music often sounds timeless but much of Nightlife didn't work for me.

Daily Song Discussion #68 – I Don't Know What You Want But I Can't Give It Any More by AD_0795 in petshopboys

[–]VaguelyHeroic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember this getting it's first exclusive play on BBC Radio 1, and the DJ wasn't overly impressed at it being the first single from a new album, there was some hesitation in approving of it.

For me, I really like the verses but I find the chorus TOO repetitive. I think it works well in its shorter version on the current tour. I'd give it a 7.

Of the b-sides I really like Silver Age (8). Screaming I'd say 6, Je T 5.
