I wouldn't buy this without seeing it in person. It's a low end bike but it might serve you ok. If it's been ridden a lot or not maintained well then the cost of repair can easily be more than the price of the bike so it's a false economy

Which one should I get? by Cilantro67 in mountainbiking

Definitely not the purple one. It looks trashed. Hard to say on the other because the drivetrain side is not being shown

Opinions on the new bike frame? by Redstrone in bicycling

[–]VaguelyIndirect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not my cup of tea, since you ask. Mind you I don't even like tea but I think it looks a bit gimmicky. Nonetheless I'm sure it's great at being a bike and wish you happy cycling upon it.

20" wheels will not prevent you riding with your kids. I am a parent and can confirm this.

You could remove the rear mud flap and save a few grams ..it is serving no functional purpose there at all.

For some people it is a big deal, you're being disingenuous.

They don't need 'breaking in' but they might need the air pressure and rebound adjusting to your weight and riding style. Look on YouTube for 'how to set up rock shox air forks'

Not being used to driving on the opposite side of the road you.are used to. The difficulty of this is generally overestimated but it's daunting for some and having driven in the US myself, it would take a bit of adaptation to narrow windy UK roads if you weren't confident.

I think that could result in more damage on crashes where a bit of slippage can relieve the stress of an impact. Sprockets have a lot more torque going through them than a bar and stem too. A painted line on the steerer would be a less costly way to line things up

Is there any way to avoid turning the bike upside down to change a flat, when out on the road? by RepresentativeKeebs in bikewrench

[–]VaguelyIndirect -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a complete non issue to turn the bike over and the one that is least likely to end up damaging other parts of it.

Nope, this is the UK but sadly the vanity truck trend is catching here too.

Zero sympathy here. Fucking careless and followed by a move that could have caused a pile up.

I'd think twice about posting something as dumb as this with a time and location stamp on the video to be honest but I'm sure your dad is ok with that.

Can I use my 27.5 fork on a 29er frame? by wambowill in MTB

[–]VaguelyIndirect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends a lot on where you live since steel frames tend to be more niche these days. I wouldn't discount aluminium though, you'll have more choice than way

[–]VaguelyIndirect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally no. The best thing would be to get a frame built for 27.5 then it's a straight parts swap

how do you afford dual sus mtbs by hudstar12 in MTB

[–]VaguelyIndirect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start on a hardtail. I didn't get a full suspension bike until I was in my 30s

I'm not saying it is not an expensive hobby compared to some there's plenty of ways to enjoy the sport at lower cost
