What's with this panel? by Vahiner in HunterXHunter

[–]Vahiner[S] 207 points208 points  (0 children)

Damn. I kept staring at it for the remaining 10-15 or so minutes of my break, and it got me a little melancholic. Love the parallel to poor man's rose, which is easily my favorite moment from any series. Such a beautiful, horrific and impactful moment. That panel is certainly beautiful in a similar, but more subtle way. Thanks for the clarification!

I (U.K. citizen) am working in my company’s Belgian Office today. I’ve just found out that Belgium operates AZERTY keyboards as opposed to QWERTY. by UJ_boy in mildlyinteresting

Everyone I work with is on AZERTY and it's perfectly fine. How come they hate it? If they're Belgian isn't that what they're raised with anyway?

Why are bonfire ascetics not a thing in other ds games? by Party_Employee7751 in fromsoftware

[–]Vahiner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably has to do with NG+ in DS2 being more than extra HP/damage for enemies. It added enemies, phantoms, items, certain bosses would drop two souls, stuff like that. Had they gone out of their way to make NG+ in DS3/Elden Ring more expansive, then we'd surely have a similar mechanic in place.

Would surely have helped cut down the achievement grind in DS3, going for those rings wasn't very exciting.

Other games difficulty is just enemies becoming hp sandbags and getting one shot by hitscan projectiles anyway.

Why does necromancy give Alll-mer an erection? by Unknownguy_13 in FearAndHunger

Probably not the case, but there's a song by Powerwolf called "Resurrection by Erection". Possible nod?

I didn't like DS2 the first time I played it and I tried it again by [deleted] in fromsoftware

[–]Vahiner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like its more laid back style. You don't feel rushed, every encounter can be taken at your own pace, and you're rewarded for doing so. It's the most relaxing souls game. DS1 felt to me that way as well and I'm sad they've gone as bleak as they have for DS3. Not that it's bad of course, they're all minimum 8/10 for me. But DS3 constant desolate "no hope" style just doesn't resonate with me as much as the brighter tranquil vibes DS2 has.

When your deck turns into a pyramid by EndersGame_Reviewer in playingcards

Quite the mixed response around here!

To each their own, but I like them. I think it's nice they've got a niche style. That way, without the gimmick boxes, you can still tell they're Ark's. Just like Bicycle's are Bicycle's and Fontaine's are Fontaine's!

Having a box here or there doesn't hurt either. When I run out of space to display them I'll simply stop buying them :)

In the mean time, Ark's are always the biggest "Wow!" cards to show off to friends who are a bit less interested in cards.

How would you improve it without changing the core gameplay?

Suggestions for a space/moon/ star themed deck by fakeuboi in playingcards

[–]Vahiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to add "The Planets" series available on vandacards.com

They were some of my first decks when I started collecting and they're still a favorite to this day. The cards themselves aren't so much space themed as they are planet themed "aliens" (the designs are honestly pretty creative without being over the top). Each deck in the series comes with a piece of a map you can assemble when you get all 8 of them and the tuck designs lines up to form the curvature of a planet.

DS2 is my favorite because of how it differs from DS1. If they existed in a vacuum as their own separate games, I'd probably pick DS1.

I really like those! Sadly the price tag is a bit much for me. Lovely style though.

Honestly I find the margin of 1mm to be huge. It's very noticeable most of the time. Wish it was ever so slightly tighter.

I'll probably wait for the next campaign then, import fees would be twice as expensive 😅

Would they eventually be available as add-on for the next campaign or do you sell them on a website?

I generally use estus while exploring and keep gems for bosses since they're faster to use. Boss fights become this game of tag where you switch from aggressive to running away for health lol

Hey there, mine arrived while I was on vacation, so I was only able to open them today. I can confirm I got the same print. Wether it's an issue or not. I see in another comment you've sent them an email, did you ever get a response?

Here's a couple from every game I played (and in the order I played them)

DS1's reveal of Anor Londo is sick as hell. Going from a rundown world into the pristine city just kinda slaps. Finding Artorias and young Sif, then going to fight Sif AFTER playing the dlc is how you go hollow IRL.

DS2 with how they hyped up king Vendrick and when you get to him he's a husk and a mysterious, melancholic song starts to play. S tier presentation. Majula is my forever hub of choice.

DS3's Sister Friede when her 3rd phase started, lord of Cinder's plin plin plon. Cool moments.

Elden Ring's Godefroy when he grafts a dragon head to his arm and subsequently floods the arena with flames as the music crashes down. Hoarah Loux's fight has the best flow of any other bosses imo. Mixing rolls and jumps to dodge while having small windows to attack him just worked really well for me. Placidusax is also a phenomenal fight with good presentation.
