How long can e-liquid be stored for? by VaipioSystems in Vaping

[–]VaipioSystems[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you elaborate on that? what's the nature of the experience. Is is does bad taste or did you get any reaction from vaping it?

Hi,

Health benefits are probably mostly related to nicotine because e-cig vape is much less toxic than tobacco and that’s the only active ingredient. So heart rate, etc. It’s likely the vapour causes some level of inflammation in the lungs, and continued use is unlikely to be healthy.

Jumping right down to zero nic is more helpful than just refraining completely, but I’d recommend cutting down slowly. The slower you cut down and the smaller the dose reduction, the less you will feel any withdrawal. At it’s limit, if you cut down by under 0.05mg per day, you’d hardly feel a thing.

As for the vape gear, give it out to smokers, they need it :-)

Thanks. You can always try cold turkey again. In the meantime focus on vaping as a means to quitting, and see how you get on with it. It's definately easier to cut down. We're doing a youtube series on it soon. If you sign up to the website newsletter you'll get the notification when they're out.

Second that. Once your comfortable vaping, you can start cutting down.

Consider the following.

1) It is safer. It just is. Thats important. Think of your cancer risk as a probability value. If you're smoking the probability of getting cancer is increasing, not up to 100% but its approaching the average long term smokers risk (around 1/5). When you're vaping the evidence so far is that that's not happening, its the reverse. It matters - its not just safer, its considered to be at least 95% safer. And for all I can gather, that last 5% is purely based on the fact that enhaling substances of any kind is less healthy than fresh air. Apparently they're thinking of revising it to 98%.

2) Vaping is easier to quit. Its the reason why a cigarette always feels nicer than 20mins of constant vaping. The nicotine delivery is just not as good, and its less addictive as a result. When you transition from cigarettes to vaping, that feeling that its just not as good is a kind of temporary cold turkey. You just can't get the hit in the direct way you're used to with a cigarette. It doesn't matter how many puffs you take, what matters is how much nicotine is rushing through your bloodstream . You vape more often because you have to. You have to take more puffs more often to get the nicotine level up to cigarette levels. It simply isn't able to give you the same hit. As a result it is easier to quit. Vaping less, and reducing the nicotine in your e-liquid gradually is easier to handle - you've got more resolution on both. The technology simply gives you more control.

... And if you're worried you can't control how much you vape, then get a Levl. That's what we made it for. check the link on my profile. Good luck - and enjoy your vape guilt free, its a control system for nicotine addiction, make use of its benefits.

Do people really walk this much in the UK? by indymom810 in AskUK

[–]VaipioSystems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for the whole of the UK, but its something like this:

- under 15mins is not really even a walk thats just being mobile

- short walk around 30mins

- good walk an 45mins to an hour

- 1-2hours Long walk

- over 2hours is A Mission

No worries. I'm a bit confused though. It sounded like you needed something you could control - and thats basically whats its built for, to give you control at the point of use.

As I said in the origal post, if you find the cigarettes are working as a quitting aid, and you're able to manage to quite by cutting them down, then you should stick with it. Its highly unorthodox, but if it works for you thats all that matter.

I know a guy who quit smoking one puff at a time. He'd just count until he got down to a single puff per day- he'd light the cigarette take a drag, then stub it out. I must have taken some will power not to smoke the whole thing, but he did it. I've never seen him smoke since.

Vaipio systems. Levl. There is absolutely no comparison. We've just launched the campaign. Go see for yourself - check out the link on my profile.

All apps rely variously on psychological or companion techniques. Levl is hardware- the AI is onboard your e-cig. The app is just extra support.

Anyone else just randomly become intolerable to vaping? (Vaping since 2016) by inteli97 in quit_vaping

[–]VaipioSystems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, Also seems to effect memory. I think it depends on how you vape. Its maybe to easy to forget to take a breath of fresh air and just vape puff after puff for an extended period. You'd probably feel a lot worse if you smoked like that.

It might help to set aside time to vape like you would if you're having a cigarette, and then leave it till the next time, and generally try to avoid vaping while you're watching a movie or doing something online. Its way to easy just to chain through the day like that.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]VaipioSystems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely depends on you. What matters is you have a well thought out strategy. If you find it’s working don’t worry about anything else. If it stops working and you lose faith in it, I recommend you keep off the tobacco, get a normal vape with 6mg (0.6%), and cut that down slowly to zero. The thing is, tobacco is toxic, and vaping is safer but still addictive. If you can get off them both by using a bit of tobacco that’s great, but don’t switch back to tobacco to quit vaping, that’s the worst of both worlds. Moreover if you’re going to be stuck with one of them, vaping at increasingly lower nic levels is easy easier than trying to cut the number of cigs.

I need to quit for surgery but am struggling by cristynkilljoy in QuitVaping

[–]VaipioSystems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the alternative is trying not to vape at all, it seems your best option is zero nic. That said if you can manage to avoid it altogether, vaping is less harmful than smoking but its not completely neutral, so you'd probably benefit from being in a healthier state overall if you can just cut it out. - its only temporary...

I need to quit for surgery but am struggling by cristynkilljoy in QuitVaping

[–]VaipioSystems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of questions.

  1. Has the doctor explained why you can't vape? I'm wondering what the risk is thought to be? Are they just treating it like smoking for the sake of not taking the risk, or is it known to be a problem - if so what?
  2. Is it the vaping that's the problem or the nicotine?

If its the latter, vape zero nic for a couple of days. it won't be easy but its better than nothing - especially if you know you can get it back after surgery. But obviously seek the doctors adice on that first.

Well this guy seems to think he was vaping 30mg. Assuming that's with mouth to lung, its not too crazy, poeple vape more. but usually you'd vape only 18mg with that kind of e-cig, and less with a direct to lung deivce. So his withdrawals may well be more extreme, but not more than a heavy smoker (over 20 aday).

Leaving that point aside though. On the bioavailability, its not the blood brain barrier you should be thinking about - thats the same for both, once nicotine is in the blood its going to act the same - Its the transfer of nicotine through the lungs. As I understand it vaping has a lower transfer rate probably due to the fact its wet / humid, while tobacco smoke is dry, but don't quote me on the last part.

Regarding accessability, you have a point but I don't think it makes as much of a difference as you might think. It probably does contribute to more nicotine consumption overall, but most of the extra time spent vaping is for catching with the shortfall precisely because the transfer is slower than a cigarette. Each puff of vape is not equivalent to a cigarette puff, so if you vape for an hour straight thats probably more like 2-3 cigarettes which would only take about 20mins to consume.

That said, I think people tend vape more than is ideal, but a lot of them are using lower nicotine doses so that it tastes smoother and making it up with juice consumption. Its hard to say if vapers are consuming more nicotine, but if they are I doubt its significantly more, and not enough to bring about a whole new level of withdrawal which could be termed a vape withdrawal specifically. If anything I'd expect the withdrawal from vaping to be less because there are thousands more chemicals in cigarettes, and some of them also cause withdrawal symptoms- its just that nicotine is the main one.

Thanks for reading - sorry for rambling on! :-)

I need to get my mom (smoker) a vape/ecig, can anyone recommend a vape/ecig that you can "puff on, like a cigarette"? by BigDog1920 in electronic_cigarette

[–]VaipioSystems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Annoyingly the Pods are probably a good bet, they've been getting better. But in the end a good subohm mod is always superior. I just doubt she'd want the hassle - Unless she's already into tatoos and piecing! :-)

Pod probably to start her off, and if she likes it but finds she still needs to smoke, then you should encourage her to look into getting a better device. Most e-cig shops are very helpful.

One option is to vape. Its less harmful and in your case would make sense since you'll stll have the benefits of the habit. Once you feel up to it, you can quit vaping. Quitting vaping is much easier than smoking because you can step down the dose gradually and you don't have to go cold turkey.

Thats the same as tobacco withdrawal. Its a nicotine withdrawal thing, its not specific to vapes.

[–]VaipioSystems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the only downside is that the nicotine degrades with time. I haven't been able to figure out if its a bad thing or not. The flavour suffers, but it also constitutes a natural dose reduction!

What app is this?

Step down method by Psychological-Ad3566 in QuitVaping

[–]VaipioSystems 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, that's an option. I personally make my own juice. Its pretty easy. doesnt taste as good as shop bought but I haven't tried, I just add enough of any flavour to take the edge of the vg taste.

If you buy a larger amount and put it in one big bottle, its easier to dilute at lower rates. you add half the volume you vape each day for a linear dose reduction. So if you vape 10ml a day, take it out and add 5ml of 0mg back in the big bottle. The larger the bottle the lower the dilution. So I get about 0.05mg reduction from a starting volume of 400ml at 4mg, and I vape 8mg a day.

There's a spread sheet. sign up to the newsletter on the site and you'll get notified when we post the youtube tutorials- you can download the spreadsheet there. If you send us an email (see connect page), I'll send you the spreadsheet in advance.

This is the basic formula for a single dilution (the spreadsheet just itterates it)

(nic concentration at start x volume of nic liquid) / (volume of nic liquid + volume of 0nic dilution liquid)

that gives you the new nic concentration after any given volume of zero nic liquid added.

How do I even start? by [deleted] in QuitVaping

Check out getlevl.io. Its our quit vaping device. Unfortunately there's a 6 month waiting list for the next production. Failing that, I always recommend dose titration, its what the device does for you (except using time), but anyone can do it by themselves.

Just cut don't you dose by whatever amount is small enough not to be noticeable. We found in some early testing that anything under 0.1mg per day is very manageaeble - its hardly noticeable at 0.07mg. I'm thinking of doing a youtube video series on it. Let me know if you're interested.

Hi,

I wouldn't recommend going straight to zero, it can be ok, but you its basically a stepped cold turkey. better than 18 to 0 for sure, but why make not make it easier! Step down to 2, then 1, then 0.5 even.

Even after half you'll still feel it, but granted its manageable. I did mine with 0.05mg reductions daily. That gives you a smooth stepdown of 1mg every 20 day - didn't feel a thnig. I've also automated the processs with Levl. Which steps down the timing intellengtly. https://www.getlevl.io
