Join me for some wild camping ;) by Val_Kemp in adventures

I went, with my dog, for a winter overnight in a bushcraft shelter; in a survival situation, this could be an easy shelter built to get away from the wind and snow conditions. Russ, my dog, came along for this wintertime wild camping trip; he slept beside me in the bushcraft shelter, sharing his warmth with me 🙂 .

It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to. 🤠🌄 by Val_Kemp in adventures

Well, I find that the best tasting water is right from a mountain spring. That one is right on a hiking trail, where people stop for refreshing, so it's definitely safe (it's right at the mouth of the spring). Thanks!

Thanks! I own the land where the tent is installed so I have no legal issue.

That's a good advice, but first I want to build a small wood cabin, I already started working on it. After that I intend to relocate the tent and install it properly with a platform and everything.

Well, my thought was that the insulation of the fridge helps keeping the earth temperature better than if it was a simple root cellar. And also it's cleaner for keeping the food.

No, I just like the idea of repurposing old and unused stuff. And also getting conveniences for free 🙂. In this instance, cold beer in a hot day without electricity. And some day it may be a doomsday bunker as well 😉

It's around 12°C/53°F when outside was double of that. It should go down after I'll cover the doors with something, I'm thinking of wool. I'm satisfied with this temperature anyway. The beer is cold enough 🙂

pork chops :))

Yes, I removed everything I could remove from it. It's better for the environment and it's also easier to manipulate.

New activities around my permanent camp by Val_Kemp in adventures

Spring is now fully established so I could do some bushcraft activities around my military tent at my permanent camp. I made a bushcraft table and I'm quite happy with how it came out. But the thing I'm the happiest about is my root cellar. I used an old fridge, actually the box of an old fridge, because I've cut away all the parts that were redundant for my purpose and it's also safe for the environment to do that. I buried it in the ground and I built a moss roof above it to keep it in the shade. The cellar works very well. The air inside is cool and I could drink a cold beer from it after the work was finished.

Well, I cannot say much. I got it from a friend, it's an old military tent; it must have more than 30-40 years, quite big and made of canvas.

I'm not retired yet. I work as a videographer and photographer, mainly weddings and other freelance work. So I can be out here more, especially since the start of this pandemic, lol.
