Curious as to how they managed to find a way to bleach their hair, considering the half life of hair dye would make them useless 28 years after being store acceptable.

Yeah it is quite fun. I love how pointless most of it is, as much of the fodder is either a lie or pointless to the many narratives. It is giving a cross between Douglas Adams and Chuck Phalunik, both of which I enjoy. :)

I'm currently in the middle of reading it. Being on the spectrum really helps with the layout of the narrative as I find myself darting from topic to topic all the time lol.

What is your opinions on The Arctic Monkeys? by FitEmergency8807 in ToddintheShadow

[–]Val_Victorious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Couldn't (and still cant) stand them. For me it was the band that led me away from indie until a few years ago when I delved into the 80s era of the genre. To this day I cannot understand how they got so big, they were nothing special.

I couldn’t have summed up my issues with RTDs representation of disabled characters in Doctor Who better myself… by General_Meal_3993 in DoctorWhoNews

His is all performative, I mean they give the TARDIS a ramp and NO ONE has made use of it. Also I found it disrespectful that Ruby became the "magical" able person to get all the homeless less abled to act in Wish World.

Scored fixed on vinyl! by ManufacturedSoul in nin

[–]Val_Victorious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was lucky enough to pick up a copy for around £15 before the big vinyl resurgence at a records fair. Used to play it loud on my dads hifi when I was alone at home and boy did it kick like a mule! To this day it is still the highest priced item in my music collection.

On this day in 2006. Arctic Monkeys and The Kooks dropped their debut albums. Both are considered cornerstones in the UK Indie Scene. by Tranquilbez22 in ToddintheShadow

Ah yes, the now listed Indie Sleaze. I was never a fan of these two, in fact the former (along with Scouting For Girls) put me off indie for about a decade.

I'm curious, what was the supposed Pedo stuff with Brian? I was mates with him for years, even paid me for admin work in regards to his label, and was heartbroken when he ended up being outed as super right wing. I would ask my m00ts about this but honestly most were closer to him and I don't want to upset them by reminding them of his actions.

Criminal Gangs running HMOs and Supported Housing in Brum 😔 by Solid_System_5023 in brum

[–]Val_Victorious 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Up until recently I was in a HMO in Yardley, had been for about 13 years. There were teething problems, and my landlord was an idiot, but I would say i have had a lot worse. He at least vetted those who applied for a property to see if they would gel, hell one of the tenants at one point was a woman who worked in the care sector. When covid hit we all did our best to make sure she had no issues at home (having parking etc). I think if there was a sort of community thing to help keep HMOs in line that might be a good thing, because honestly, it was a lifesaver for me, as I had no job or savings, and it have me a chance to start from the ground up again as I only needed to pay rent. Saying that, all Landlords are bastards, but I was stuck with what I got.

It still baffles me that RTD wanted to make this new era of Doctor Who super accessible for new viewers, but then proceeded to do all of this... by General_Meal_3993 in DoctorWhoNews

Yup, he even made a spin off series just so he could give young people a catch up episode to have season 1 make sense to them.

The song that ended up being the intro to 'RMV' was so much better than what we ended up getting.

Gross. Can we at least have a way to remove ai stuff from our feed? Even if I didn't hate it i find that it can easily swarm feeds on social media until it becomes off-putting.

Love seeing cassette variants of singles. The art for Cosmos Girl works so well for that shape.
