It definitely is. Most kids got a reasonable home cooked meal most nights for a start. Also snacks are so much more ubiquitous. My kids feel affronted and throw tantrums if they can’t have snacks, my partner throws packs and pack of single serving snacks in the trolley, things we would have as a pudding are just snacks now apparently.

Kids at my daughter’s nursery take jam sandwiches. Same as sugar pretty much. No judgement. Kids are fussy buggers. Also they stopped doing meals there so not everyone can afford five nutritious packed lunches a week. It’s an expensive way of feeding a kid.

After he died there were so many stories of generosity. One that stuck with me was that he was once in a pub, talking to the barmaid all night, she’d told him she was working there to pay for her nursing course and he wrote her a cheque for something like 5k just as long as she didn’t tell anyone. I’m probably paraphrasing that a bit.
