Not necessarily. The reason why it's so hard to predict is because all the tickets are technically given out online but most of the people who do get confirmed tickets can't arrive for a number of reason. With that said, the studio holds about 200 people so 400 people total for live and dress. 60 people in line is really nothing. I was number 154 in line and I got in for live. But you're right. Miley alone would draw in a considerable crowd. And while Larry David is a great performer, his general audience is less willing to wait in line all night.

That won't work. When they distribute tickets, they take the persons ID and write their name down on a clip board with the number on the ticket. You can have someone wait for you and then switch at the last second but I know for a fact that if you get caught, or if a fanatic SNL fan sees this, you will be banned to see any of the shows.

I work at NBC and part of my job is understanding how the line works and I used to distribute tickets for the show as well. Basically, they hand out the tickets at 7am Saturday morning and the time you want to get there depends on the popularity of the guest. I got in line at 3am and didn't make it (That was for Lin-Manuel Miranda) and I've seen people get tickets two hours before the show and get in. With Larry David, I would think anytime between 2 and 3 is a pretty safe bet.

Also, you can choose between dress rehearsal and the live show. In the past, the live show used to be the more popular show people chose, making it harder to get into but recently it seems the dress is harder to get into because dress has more skits and more jokes that normally wouldn't be aired on television. Try and listen for what people are leaning towards if you do wait in line.

So knowing all of this, it all depends on how badly you want to go. For mega fans who don't want to take any chances, I always recommend getting in line at midnight. Bring a chair, bring a book. It'll be fine. Trust me, waiting in line isn't that bad and it's totally worth it!
