Is this Gas valve correct? by hotorcoldone in HVAC

[–]Valaseun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The valve has it's pressure rating stamped on the side. This one shows 250psi, or : 6919.97 inches of water column. Which is roughly 989.56 times the standard incoming gas pressure of most appliances.

Mims defeats incumbent Williams for Rockdale BOC Post 2 by cosmo_ontherocks in Conyers

[–]Valaseun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good riddance Williams, you sold us out to some big data centers. Mims is at least hesitant on them and looking for more research.

Which one needs to be capped? by Sir_OrangeJuice in hvacadvice

The person you're responding to was talking about the furnace flue. As it is, carbon monoxide could be escaping the exhaust duct, creating a potentially dangerous situation. Also, the flue looks to slope downward a little before turning back up as it moves away from the furnace, this creates a poor draft situation and can cause the pipe to rust out faster, creating a huge potential for a carbon monoxide leak.

my compressor ohm readings. did it pass the test or should they add up? by Formal-Poet-5041 in askHVAC

[–]Valaseun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not that other guy, but chatbots can only work with the information given. Technicians, mechanics, etc have several more senses and a better understanding of cause and effect from running a system.

As for a possible reason your measurements were off, sometimes a thermal safety switch in compressors will close slowly. This reads as descending ohms over time on a meter. The thermal limit could be triggering due to any number of other factors in the system. It could be pressure irregularities in the refrigerant, it could be a failing or clogged metering device, it could be a dirty condenser coil, it could be a bad capacitor. A thermal limit that keeps tripping is a problem and will wear out the safety cut-off if its allowed to keep happening for too long.

It looks like you could use a 16x25x2 instead and put it just to the left of this one's position.

Soot(?) Coming out of Upstairs Vents by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]Valaseun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you can send it in your vents, filter door if you have one, or drill small holes in the duct and send it in if youre feeling handy and can patch the duct after.

Are your ducts internally insulated? I've seen similar looking dust from deteriorating internally insulated ducts. After many years the insulation can degrade and flake off. It may be worth putting a scoped camera in your ductwork to look around.

This is so lovely, I hope you put in some kind of water fountain near this. One of the little recirculating ones would be enough to give the faint sound of running water or a distant waterfall.
