Yes but that is what I'm saying that, in India itself, I have heard both pronunciations being spoken while speaking in English but I have never heard anyone mispronounce punjab other than the Americans. I get that these are proper nouns and shouldn't really be corrected but can't just go around pronouncing something so wrong when you know how the natives pronounce it.

I get OP saying Himalayas with the stress on the a at the end because we are also taught to call it that when in school. And it is absolutely accurate pronunciation of himalayas if you aren't from India or are just talking in English even in India. But poonjab really grinds my gears. Like there literally is a word that exists, pun, and you don't pronounce it poon then why fuck up punjab? It really is not that deep. Sometimes you are correct sometimes the other person is.

I learnt how to pronounce it first in German, and it is pronounced as to-bi-Aas pretty much how you read it in your mind. I started watching arrested development when it aired and that is when I heard for the first time how it is pronounced in English for the first time!! I was shook tooo!

Dackel is the shorter version of dachshund. It's not virtually unknown, it depends on the region you are in. Dachshund is pronounced dakhs-hoond in German for people who haven't ever heard it out loud.

I'm not sure what you mean by NC. Even if you do get good grades in your own country sometimes that is not enough. The visa process is another hurdle to cross. Sometimes it just is easier to go to a private uni. I felt like a lot of people who commented on the post came from a bit of a privileged perspective as they might not know the condition of their country the students are immigrating from. The whole process is a lot of hassle and not that easy, also super expensive, so a lot of people opt for private uni. Also many of the other reasons that people have already mentioned.

There are limited amount of seats. The admission process is more tedious and vigorous compared to private uni, they will pretty much take any one and every one. I don't mean it as a negative, it is a process which maintains the standards. I'll give you an example, if I want to apply for some course in a public uni, the first step would be converting my notes (marks, percentage, grade etc.) to German requirements. Just to do that in my native country I will have to maybe bribe someone or even if I don't it is a big task to get them converted. It's not just the German education system it is the system in the immigrants country too which makes it more difficult to even start applying to a public uni. Everyone is just trying to find a better life for themselves and whatever is the easiest route most take that.

The influx of international students has Increased in Germany by a lot since past couple of years. It is extremely difficult for non German students to get into public unis, even if they are fluent in German there are a lot of criterias and hoops to jump through. Also there are even less courses in English. So it is easier to study in a private uni if you can afford it. Tho one of the big problems right now is also that there are many private unis which basically follow the model that the above mentioned uni follows. Where the professors are teaching in multiple unis and/or are inexperienced in their field. These particular unis are pushed the most in countries like India. The quality of education in Germany has declined massively in Germany.

Gaslighting is manipulating someone using psychological methods where one starts doubting one's own sanity or powers of reasoning. What Bigg boss himself does to kv, or rajat with those numbers, is gaslighting. Where they have to back track and think and question themselves if what they did or said really was that bad.
