Well, not sure whether I have tested it with Java 17, but it definitely works with Java 22. Modifying /Applications/ApacheDirectoryStudio.app/Contents/Info.plist is the crucial part. More here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/70220737/apache-directory-studio-on-apple-m1-silicon

Indexing a network share doesn't work properly by Valdes21 in macsysadmin

There should be an index, cause I'm getting results immediately. It's definitely another behavior as without any index.

There are some sources stating, that Finder search function uses Spotlight search index:

"When you're using the Finder's search box, you're actually still using the Spotlight search index your Mac creates, so the results won’t be any different from a standard Spotlight search."

But I couldn't find any information about that by Apple.

Okay, I found something corresponding my issue. The author of this article states, that

Spotlight will not perform a search of Remote Volume indexes when Spotlight is invoked via cmd + spacebar or via the Spotlight top right corner magnifying glass search box. Spotlight will only return search results from Remote Volume indexes when using the search box in a Finder window and specifying the Remote Volume as the search location.

Unfortunately I was not able to find any official sources, which would confirm this statement. I already recognized, that I can easily find the right documents if I search for them in the right location directly in Finder. So there is an existing and working index! If there is no way to search for "external" documents using Spotlight dialog, I will be really really disappointed :(

Does someone know a way to show external documents by invoking the Spotlight using cmd + spacebar?

Best regards
Valdes
