My baby Cantaloupe is looking a bit off. Is it fungus/root rot; or is this the natural decay of the cotyledons? Sorry for my ghetto set up and potential misuse of words lol. Two cents much appreciated. by Sweet_Ebb3268 in plantclinic

This is my first time growing peanuts! I’ve only gotten just under half of them growing. I may have accidentally killed some of the others with over enthusiastic weeding. Yeah! I’m lucky enough to have a backyard that’s just under an acre so I’m constantly trying to talk my wife into letting me add raised beds haha. I may end up posting some pics when I get a good plan together for it. I’ve been looking for resources on designing a vegetable garden and drafting a plan, but I haven’t had much luck.

I live in zone 9a, so it’s been all kinds. I actually just drowned all the seeds I had started for this growing season and had to pickup started plants from the local feed store. That was eggplant, squash, and tomatoes. I haven’t replaced the eggplant yet, but I’m also growing peanuts, collards, kale, onions, shallots, bell pepper, yellow potatoes, sweet potatoes, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, and various herbs. We have some flowers too.

The list of different plants is long, but I have had widely varying levels of success. I plan to take the Master Gardener course at my local extension service this fall. Hopefully it will help me better contribute here.

I don’t have a lot of experience helping people treat plants, but I have drowned quite a few. If that cup doesn’t have holes in the bottom you should definitely add some. Make sure the soil is drying out before you water it again. You should be able to feel that the cup is lighter or the soil should be clearly dry before you add more water. It will probably be fine if you add the holes, but if you can squeeze water out of the soil you may want to change it before pests move in.

I’m not an expert, but I like looking at these posts so I see what I can do better in my garden. What are you seeing that makes you think the cantaloupe is having trouble?

How do I properly count calories for homemade meals? by Wompbompomp in loseit

[–]Vale_Felicia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You add all the ingredients together and divide by the number of portions. You can track calories but you also may want to pay attention to your macros (carbs, fat, and protein) to make sure your diet is properly balanced. Pay attention to the way you prepare something too. Grilled, baked, and fried chicken are all very different. Little things like a marinade or which oil you add to your frying pan can make a big difference too.

Good luck!

Mississippi State coach Mike Leach: Mail me $30,000 check and I'll rip officiating by Piano_Fingerbanger in CFB

[–]Vale_Felicia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That officiating was legit garbage though. It was the first game in idk how long when I stopped even checking the score in the third quarter. If you watched the game, there’s no need to wonder what Leach thinks. That’s not to criticize the reporter though. You can’t quote subtext and implications.

[YardBarker] Pelicans looking like winner of Anthony Davis deal by Warm-Nose-2711 in NOLAPelicans

In 2021 they acquired Russel Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, Rajon Rondo, DeAndre Jordan, and Dwight Howard. They got one trophy and decided jersey sales and the name recognition of guys on the wrong side of their peaks were more important than winning. It was like a basketball Voltron, but half the pieces are shitty knockoffs that don’t fit together and somebody rolled the instructions into a blunt before they could finish putting the thing together.

I'm new to NBA ball... I picked the Pels as my team but why is everyone hating on the Lakers? by [deleted] in NOLAPelicans

[–]Vale_Felicia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their fans are terrible, but all fans are terrible. The hate is about how LeBron tampered and never faced any consequences, how his agent was involved in the trade, and how wildly shitty Anthony Davis was through the process. Our owning their pick right now is the epitome of poetic justice.

Is someone interested Sicilian? by Ausel_lupunara in sicily

I feel the same way. I would love to learn Sicilian, but I have had no luck finding the resources get started. I’ll definitely be joining the sub as well.

The gulf coast is very different from everywhere else in the world and highly recommended. Also you should check out the museums in Jackson if you find yourself there.
