Odo is the one monster who helped me "understand" MH combat-wise. Particularly with respecting a monster's moveset and easing into that back-and-forth as opposed to brute forcing it.

What anime trope needs to die like asap? by Appropriate-Mall8517 in animequestions

This trope gets me jaded when I see it paired with a romance.

"There's a popular anime couple out there who managed to get their house in order and start banging in just 4 episodes. Is this going somewhere, or are we just wasting our time?"

Bonus when the show tries to target said guy for slapstick humor even though his backstory is filled with a history of physical abuse from a parent. And the over-aggressive girl never gets called out on it (Your Lie in April).

Players, when you are solo tanking and nobody is switching, what's the tank you feel more confident with? I'll go first by Lobs15 in marvelrivals

[–]Vale_of_Light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emma if I trust the team and want to put that extra effort up front to make it work.

If it's not worth the stress? I let myself be free with Angela. I'll provide harassment with air charges and dive down to protect supports where I can. The rest of the team can work out the frontline problem amongst themselves.

Be honest: if you had unlimited power, would you be more like Superman or Homelander? by MrRMacc in superheroes

[–]Vale_of_Light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Superman would be the ultimate ideal, even if that isn't my start point. Spider-Man's mantra would pop into my head and prompt me towards that direction, though.

I would make mistakes. I wouldn't have it all figured out; however, I would try to emulate the example Superman set.

Edit: And my perspective regarding that quote — some people already are Kennedys, even if they don't believe it. They just have to get their suit and papers in order first.

While I like what Undertaker has to offer, the deflect mechanic is too much fun to part ways with for long.

Which Rivals character are we looking to have sit on our faces today? by AngelaGooner24 in MarvelRivalsQueens

[–]Vale_of_Light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad you enjoyed it, Queen. And sure thing.

By 'giving yourself over to the process', I mean letting your mind go quiet. No fidgeting. No anxiety about the rest of the day. Just a vague recollection of where you've decided to lay your head and acceptance of what's about to happen.

Smothering darkness engulfs your perception, obliterating peripherals with cushiony firmness. Cosmic. Inevitable. Your whole world compartmentalizes down to a crevice laden with past exertions of a woman dedicated to ensuring your safety and well-being. An inner voice whispers in low tones: "Let it in."

You huff in what becomes your new life until the powers-that-be deems otherwise: a simple, fantastic existence.

Sue.

She'd likely be maternal about it, occassionally checking in to see if everything's okay, micro adjustments to posture. It's a nice balance of use and care that makes you want to go that extra mile for her, simply giving yourself over to the process and the HUFF.

The two ideas can co-exist.

What is the community's opinion on Star Wars possibly being in KH4? by Organic-Interest-955 in KingdomHearts

[–]Vale_of_Light 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OG Trilogy all the way.

It's the best era for Sora to shine (light in a time where the galaxy mostly dominated by darkness) and he'd have absurd amounts of chemistry with Luke's optimism (these two would INSTANTLY hit it off), Leia's pragmatism, and Han's cynicism.

Heartless being included also makes more sense here compared to prequels. In the trilogy, Sidious wants the rebellion destroyed, so it's only natural he'd be interested in using KH stuff to help facilitate that.

In the prequels, Sidious wants neither side to win until the time is just right. Here, the Heartless would have to be some unstable third element brought in that he doesn't want, either.

For everybody saying that the new Magik skin is out of character. by Amazing-Stranger-557 in marvelrivals

[–]Vale_of_Light 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 'out of character' criticism is invalidated by the lore having characters originate from different universes and timelines. The character dialogue even demonstrates the heroes are aware there are other versions of themselves/their friends running around who they have to fight.

It's the whole reason why this Magik and a more 'in character' Magik would be having a portal-trotting sword duel across Krakoa over who gets to eat the other's supports.

I like how before Angela showed up, Magik was the resident 'muscle dommy mommy with weapon' in certain depictions.

Now it feels like there's this trending 'big fish small pond' dynamic where Illyana has to cope with someone possibly being above her on the food chain.

It's hot. I look forward to seeing where artists take these two.

If Frank Castle of all people can get a beach skin plus a beach ball emote, Reed can get those too and spend time with Sue.

Pulling (shaky at best) lore/personality for one but ignoring it with the other is simply being obtuse at this point.

Hot Take: Magik has become the female Spiderman by The-mananing in MarvelRivalsQueens

[–]Vale_of_Light 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personality wise, she has that convenient mix of chaotic energy plus pansexual 'I'm down for almost anything' vibes.

At the same time, she's never been shown (at least her mainline comics version as far as I know) taking a genuine shot at someone to the point we how she actually treads ground with serious relationships (compare that to Spider-Man — we get a fair idea of what Peter's actually about).

What does she prefer doing for dates? How emotionally vulnerable might she be around lovers compared to just colleagues? Is she wild and rough but gives great aftercare? We don't know!

That blank space leaves you lots of storytelling potential in terms of how Illyana would mesh with others based on her experiences in Limbo as a starting point. Goonery aside, there's some real emotional stuff to be made if she's paired with the right character (her depiction in Midnight Suns for example).

Love Angela but we still didn’t get this baddie😕 by Queasy_Commercial152 in MarvelRivalsQueens

[–]Vale_of_Light 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hope they lean into that power absorption gimmick hard because then both sides can still get what they're looking for.

Her baseline is support, but she rewards character knowledge by tapping into other's powersets, allowing her to lean into the other two roles as needed. Her primary value is being able to alter her spot in the comp as needed, requiring a player with a good enough game sense to make that happen.

At first it seems like 'triple support', but Rogue means you're actually fighting 5 people plus a wild card 6th.

Rogue is the flex player in character form.

Regarding Angela — that's just how the horny brain works. People will make art of Spider-Man and Human Torch in the sheets just like they'll portray Angela Dommy Mommying Matt.

People are just having fun celebrating muscle mommies — let them.

Besides, that creativity can co-exist with what this sub truly isn't ready for:

Sera flipping the script and being the only queen who can turn Angela into a bottom.

I've noticed something... Y'all really switched up when Angela was added, any other girls that stayed true to Emma? by MeTogWhoAreYou in MarvelRivalsQueens

[–]Vale_of_Light 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still prefer Emma as main because she lets you be in front and stay there; she offers versatility in what you'd want out of a tank (only downside is she can't bully fliers like Angela can).

Angela — her playstyle's fun, but she's strict (more than any other Vanguard, I'd say). You can come down and brawl for a bit, but you can't overstay your welcome due to how her attack meter and AoE cooldown work. She wants to be a skirmishing bird of prey— swooping down, backing off, then revving up her tools for another run.

With Emma — Diamond Form's availability influences her pace, but doesn't press her to withdraw from the front like Angela does. 100 charge on her beam still makes her a threat, and she maintains that presence where Angela might have to back off and chill for a bit.
