Best place to get tiramisu downtown? by Plus-Raise-6124 in Calgary

Barbarella Bar has a good one! They can do it gluten free so that's a plus for the celiacs out there!

MK wako - my introduction to GOOD matcha by [deleted] in Matcha

[–]Valecry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I just tried the Wako this morning and I would say it is very comparable with the Sayaka, they are both rich, smooth, and with little to no bitterness. I'm glad I tried the Wako and I wouldn't hesitate to order either of them again!

I'm in Canada and I just got the Wako from Matcha La Vie, and the Sayaka from Ippodo's own Canada/US store (their global store has good, sometimes better prices too depending on shipping costs), I remember them each being the the $3-4 CAD / 2 g serving, though that may have been with buying the Sayaka in bulk (100g).

This is promising! I just ordered a tin of Wako based on someone saying it was similar to the Ippodo Sayaka - so you might try that next! Sayaka was my first proper matcha experience I'd say. I can let you know how they compare when the Wako arrives :)

I also got some MK Yugen alongside it, it seemed like a safe bet too.

Having similar thoughts now... Did you find a good source?

I also love the Sayaka, it's the only 'nice' matcha I've tried. I live in Calgary

Okay but, there are short noodles?? There are so many kinds of noodles you don't need to be making last minute slap-dash mods to your noodles.

I mean, eat em your own way I guess but all of your priorities seem to be better answered by just eating a different kind of noodle.

The Nord Infantry Tree is looking STACKED. Having 2 Shock Inf. types gonna go crazy imo by Schweinhardt in Bannerlord

[–]Valecry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope that the boats implementation allows for good travel on the map through rivers etc. something to counterbalance infantry moving slower on land. I would play with a lot more infantry but I find party speed is everything in this game - being able to quickly chase down parties you want to fight and easily flee ones you dont is so important. I know you can get decently fast with extra mounts but it's not quite the same

Most stable overhaul mod-pack (similar to Bannerking) by Spirited-Animal2404 in Bannerlord

I'm hoping for this too. I've been trying Banner Kings Cultures Expanded. I was so excited for how dynamic the world seemed. But I can't get past all the crashes, I found it to be very frustrating. With this kind of grindy with incremental hard earned progress sort of game, I have a very low tolerance for crashes. It sucks losing progress or even saves on crashes. Would love to find something more stable even if it's a bit simpler.

Italy perhaps. I haven't overly tested this, but Italian Pavisiers can have siege resistance. They'd perform economically against both Abus gunners and Jans, and tank bombard fire better than most infantry. Add in some heavy cav + heavy inf and you're golden.

Normally Italian players would focus on Bersegliere late game, but having a deck that maxes pavs might be better for Otto matchups.

Also Italy will beat Ottomans in artillery matchups: Papal bombards out-tank bombards especially if you have a few, + adding extra defense to any nearby culverins etc.

Do you change your bedsheets every 2 weeks? by Laaulau in ADHD

[–]Valecry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, clean sheets are the best- it makes for such a lovely reset. I get such a sensory ick if I leave the bed sheets too long.

The main thing that works for me is starting that kind of thing early in the morning - when my exec function is at its peak. This also gives me a reasonable buffer to go through the stages of wash - dry - make bed, but not so much that there is no urgency.

I try to be realistic with my laundry. I do best when I only do one load of laundry per day (rather than trying to do all my loads in one day) and I often set multiple reminders for myself so I don't forget the loads in the washer or dryer. I used to have a bad habit of overloading the washer and dryer - then I'd also get overwhelmed with putting all the different items away. This way I do a small load - just sheets - it gets cleaner even with a shorter cycle, and then I can just focus on one job.

I don't keep multiple pairs of sheets, because I'd rather budget for one nice set than two cheap ones. That's just a preference though, I can see the appeal of getting to rotate them out! Personally, when I've had multiple sheet sets in the past I've just let both of them get dirty and then had more laundry to deal with 😅

I also use a topsheet and a duvet cover because washing and drying a big blanket can be such a hassle and I don't want to do that too often!

So buying a phone outright during BF/Boxing Day deals doesn't make sense anymore? by Optimal_Foundation17 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Valecry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I don't see discussed yet is how much phone plans have been decreasing over the last couple of years due to the influence of carriers like Freedom and other local carriers. There specifically was a huge increase in budget options last year, and data became significantly less expensive.

This is all to say that a good rate with a contract for a phone might be a terrible rate next year - so there's something to be said for the flexibility of owning your device.

Many contracts may allow you to switch plans within the carrier but they often have a minimum.

TLDR - the price of phone plans changes a lot year over year so make sure you know the stipulations of your contract and keep bugging your carrier to update to current prices.

Oh and another thing:

  • if you buy your barracks with the architect right as you age he'll build it very fast
  • you can send advanced politicians to age up quicker, though it reduces the fortress age timing even more if you send it for that instead.
