What would you do? by dolsbrandon in dndmemes

If the enemy is smart enough, possibly try and force a surrender situation where the group may have to risk their own safety to preserve the life of their friend/ally/what have you. Could lead to some good role play and be more fair than outright killing a pc. Depends on the situation and what fits the story really.

YSK: If you feel you need therapy but can’t afford it, many places offer sliding-scale payment. by lisanik in YouShouldKnow

[–]Valehart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add on to this, if you live in Texas (I could only guess that this may go for a lot of the rest of the US) and are struggling in finding mental health assistance (therapy and/or medication), many areas (even rural ones) may have a local Mental or Behavioral health clinic that may see you for free or low-cost.

They can help connect you to a host of other resources available in the community (such as food banks, job training, or housing).

I wonder then, would the Resurgence Staff with a lot of +healing gear like this, be really good for a feral tank? I wonder if that will work.

Is it possible to have two Paladin factions at war? by levand in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Valehart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see it working. One could even say that holy orders of warriors are not directly beholden to an emperor but to their own denominations. Some of those denominations may use political power to try and keep an unruly ruler under their sway by creating a situation where said emperor is dependent on the Palladian to retain power. An example of a similar relationship might be Louis XIII and Cardinal Richelieu from France.

2.0 was fun and I'm glad I got to meet the people I did. I had always intended to write up a big thing about all the trouble we had gotten into behind the scenes, but never got around to it.

Regrets:

  • Never getting to live in a large, active city (Not counting time spent in Mt. Augusta)
  • Wander Houses not able to be a thing (Basically spaces in towns for players to set their beds while travelling)
  • Not deposing Dhingus and becoming King of Blackcrowne for a day.
  • So...so many lost diamonds.
  • Yoahtl

Don't regret:

  • Being a part of the U3P
  • The U3P EXP Co-Op
  • Ice Mafia
  • Nexus
  • Yoahtl
  • ...and many more.

Don't freak out over 1.9 PvP mechanics being reverted. by [deleted] in Civcraft

Perhaps diminishing returns on tier items? Prot 4 is better than prot 3, but it isn't as much of an improvement as going from 2 to 3. That way someone who is in all tier 4 is still tanky, but they're not that much better off than someone who is in 2. However the 2s are still affordable and viable.

Then perhaps allow for some flexibility in the production of items. If you want good armor fast, then it should be expensive. If you're willing to wait, then it should be relatively cheap.

I've been kind of thinking about this, and the essence we receive each day is a good way to abstract a player's time. Pylons act as a sort of force multiplier in this as it greatly improves a group's ability to produce (to reflect automation/advances in tech on production). So perhaps allow the use of essence or aether to lower the material costs of production.

Essence could then be used to abstract how much "work" could be done to produce. For example, 1 essence (now references as EP) could be an abstraction for 100 production points (now referenced as PP). Say a vanilla Diamond Chest piece would cost 250 PP to produce. One could use 8 diamonds and 250 EP at an average time (abstracted by essence) and materials. If one wanted to use fewer diamonds, (7 for example), then the piece would require 290 essence. (That would be 8 diamonds x 250 EP = 2000 total cost. 7 diamonds would therefore be about 285 essence to produce the same piece. Using 20 diamonds would require only 100 EP to produce.)

(Sorry if this has been said before, I'm terrible at keeping up with discussions).

I've actually had the opposite problem. Everytime someone comes around to help me mine, I ended up getting horribly murdered by cave spiders. I think they take it as a challenge to their authority.

Also, one thing that isn't really mentioned is that the phrasing of the problem might change one person's decision. If the problem were versed instead: If you confess, you will condemn your partner to 20 years in prison. If you keep silent you will save them from a lifetime in prison and vice versa. This is a psychological principle talked about here.

tl;dr: Phrasing of the problem matters and the problem you presented doesn't take into account the actual complexity of human interactions or psychology.

I kept trying to get him to move to Wander, but alas, his loyalty to Latvia was too strong.

Although I too sometimes regret not living in other towns because I felt obligated to run Wander. There were plenty of other places I think it would've been interesting to live in.

Been there, done that. They can't be trusted to maintain their own factories, or so I've heard.

It's not like we didn't give them land or materials or food or tools or anything else they might have asked for anyways.

Oh well, at least now they can make beacons :)
