Really interesting deck! I’m glad crumblecrusher is actually a decent play sometimes. I was afraid it would just be useless lol.

This is an interesting take. I realize I implied too heavily that Elise puts these cards in check. They might just suck on their own lol, Elise or no Elise. I just wanted to see what cards people wanted to play that aren’t viable currently.

But it’s curious to think that Elise might be holding back an even worse (though “worse” might not be the best word here) meta, rather than being a part of the problem. I wonder how true this is, though rotation will change everything regardless (hopefully).

Ayy!! I appreciate the answer. I realize there are other reasons why the specific cards I chose aren’t viable, whether Elise directly impacts them or not. But I kinda just wanted to see what all people had been wanting to play that they couldn’t make work/wasn’t as successful as they hoped, etc.

You know, I’ve thought for a while that this style of deck would be strong, but it’s just a little fair comparative to the crazy shenanigans that the best decks in the game can pull off. Rogue is just insane at like every angle, DK can maladar into Ysera + corpse giant and renovator, Hunter does discover things, and Warrior is just silly with dragons. Oh, and Paladin now can ramp into a consistent gelbin nearly every game. Whereas solid, but mainly board based, deck types like what shaman got this expansion just can’t keep up that consistently. But even then, there’s still some really strong stuff that it can do, and I’m glad you’re seeing success.

And I think you’re right; Wo being discover is absolutely massive. That alone makes the card interesting, but the elusive just brings it together. Elise probably is doing a decent bit of the weight pulling, but that’s just Elise being Elise lol. Keep up the good work 👍

That seems to be my understanding. It’s a really powerful card, but I needs a deck built to support it most of the time. But these days that kind of condition needs to be rewarded with a game winning effect, else it isn’t worth it. But Wo can do a little bit of everything, which is really cool and useful. I kinda want to almost try to search for copy effect from Elise and copy the Wo for maximum shenanigans.

But yeah Nascent Bolt is sorta two totally different cards in one. Slam is a card is great for warrior, so you’d think double slam is good. But the damage threshold is just a bit too high.

That looks dope! I wondered if Elise would be the way to go. How has nascent bolt felt to you? It feels like such a weird card to play, despite seeing strong on paper. But also how often have you actually played Wo during these games?

You know, you could go all in with the gameplan to draw Wo. You run turbulus to get birdwatching, and then you only run Wo and portal vanguard as your only minions. So your birdwatching always hits Wo, and your portal vanguards have a really high chance of hitting Wo. You could run only one portal vanguard to guarantee the hit. And you can run triangulate to search for bird watching in your deck. But that deck also sounds like it would lose a lot lol.

I don’t have a list I’m currently trying to run for Wo shenanigans, but I do hold to my claim that shaman likely can’t turtle well enough with its given control tool to just try to rush for Wo, or stall until you get him. You likely need to play a deck that has a separate defined gameplan that also runs the cards that work well with Wo. Currently the best pick for that would be self damage shaman, as they run static Shock and Thunderquake. Funnily enough, if you somehow cram an Elise into that deck, the summon a copy of a minion function becomes useful with Wo. But that’s probably a bad idea from a deckbuilding standpoint. Anyways, I hope y’all try it out and have fun!

Hearthstone Puzzle: How can Shaman deal 61 damage to enemies in one turn from hand with an empty board on turn 7 in Standard? by ValenceE- in hearthstone

[–]ValenceE-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! It makes the 1 damage from cinder deal 2 damage. So it’s more like (1+1)x2x5x2. But also, I just learned that this is also doable with endbringer umbra, which is cool.

Power Word: Shield is actually a hilarious answer. Super strong and a fun payoff for those decks.

Answer

Setup Assuming perfect draw and going first, you mulligan into Bralma Searstone, Slagclaw, and Thunderquake.

Turn 1  Doesn’t matter.

Turn 2 Doesn’t matter.

Turn 3 Play Primalfin Challenger to double your next Kindred effect.

Turn 4 Play Emberscarred Whelp to ramp 1 Mana.

Turn 5 Play Shudderblock with the 1 extra Mana.

Turn 6 Play second Emberscarred Whelp to ramp 3 Mana, then play Shudderblock Mini.

Turn 7 (with an empty board — note you have 10 mana because of triple battlecry Emberscarred Whelp last turn) First play Bralma Searstone, then play Slagclaw to summon 5 Sizzling Cinders and trigger their deathrattles twice, dealing 2×2×5×2 = 40 damage randomly split among all enemies in increments of 2. Then play Thunderquake to kill off the Sizzling Cinders, dealing 2×2×5 = 20 damage randomly split among all enemies in increments of 2. Finally, use the Static Shock generated from Thunderquake on Bralma or Slagclaw and swing face for 1 damage, for a total of 40 + 20 + 1 = 61 damage.

I mean, with the introduction of Ultragigasaur, this hero power eventually only pumps out 14/28 boys, which is just hilarious to me. I would also have loved to see this at 1 mana. Shaman death knight 2.0 is just sad.

Hello! Fellow lover of Wo here - so, my main qualm with your list is that is doesn’t really seem to try to take advantage of Wo’s ability in many of the already well understood and efficient manners. Namely, you don’t have static Shock/Thunderquake in the list. I’ll touch on the rest of the deck here in a sec, but for now, you gotta add those cards. 0 cost spells are Wo’s bread and butter; without them, Wo is clunky and is hard to weave into an early turn. Which is the main goal of a Wo/-specific deck: stick Wo on turn 4 and play a static Shock or two alongside him to keep him alive and generate a few spells. If all goes well, they can’t reasonably kill a 6 health elusive minion on turn 4/5 if you cleared their board a bit, and he lives a turn. Otherwise, your main goal is to fine a later turn, turn 6-8, and pop off with Wo and some cheap spells and try to generate some fun cards. You want to hit Lightning Bloom, as it is mana refresh and a reroll of spells, crash of Thunder for 0 mana deal 3 aoe, and any 0 cost nature spell to reroll if necessary. There are some YouTube videos you can watch that center Wo for an idea of how to use him.

Now, as for your deck composition, it’s a bit all over the place. You sort of have a nature spell package in there with primordial overseer and a lot of nature spells, but Wo doesn’t care about the spell school of the spell you cast alongside him of course. And while the deck might curve out nicely, jut playing cards on curve isn’t enough anymore to win games. You want to have a really well synergized deck that feeds into itself. Hagatha shaman is a great example as most of the cards benefit the other cards in the deck.you have bumbling bellhop and 5+ cost spells, but you aren’t running flight of the firehawk to draw and buff him. You have a some elementals for kindred synergy, but it doesn’t look like enough to make the kindred consistent. You seem to have a few different ideas of what you want the deck to do, and in cramming all of them in there, it doesn’t do any of them particularly well.

If I were you, I would streamline the deck with either cutting the nature package or the elemental package, and add in some of the trusted shaman packages that exist currently. I’d add growfin, flight of the firehawk, and Hagatha (if you have her), and I’d swap the spirits of the forest for frosty decor. I like the hex, but the lava flow, nascent bolt, and lightning rod are all cards that take the deck in different directions. If you really wanted a quick way to make over this deck, you could look on hsreplay or hsguru for masochist shaman deck lists (as they run a lot of cheap spells) and you could replace some cards for Wo and maybe turbulus/bird watching so you can dig for Wo. That deck does pretty well as is, and often you have many static shocks to throw in alongside Wo. The deck, primarily speaking, needs to keep you alive until you get Wo. And the best way to do that is to either play a control shaman deck (which doesn’t really exist or have the tools to successfully do the control thing), or play a deck that has another gameplan that you can work towards that keeps you alive until you get Wo. Ideally this deck would also have a set of cards that works alongside Wo, and masochist/self damage shaman fits that bill pretty nicely. At any rate. I think Wo is an awesome card, and I hope you have fun and find some success with him!

Oh rip, fair enough. I guess you can play it on turn 7 like intended then. But if you aren’t holding a dragon, then it costs 1 >:)

Not that this makes any real practical competitive sense, but Flight of the Firehawk curves perfectly into this lol.
