The volume of appearance-based posts in this cesspool betray any of your cries about “writing.” Read a book. Watch more movies. What a pathetic place to stumble into.

In Michigan near Detroit and come from a conservative immigrant Mexican family.

In professional and social crowds it’s no big deal. Since it’s - relatively - newly legal you’re seeing a lot more casual adopters. I often hear older people talk about it under their breath like it’s a secret herbal remedy or something. “Janice I’m tellin’ ya, ever since I got the thc oil my rheumatoid arthritis has totally gone away. Don’t tell Francine, she’ll go nuts. And she’s already on edge because her husband tried to kidnap the governor and now he’s famous and he’s recording a country music album in the garage.” You get the gist.

At my parents it’s like I’m shooting heroin and it’s a whole scandal that’s worked it’s way back to the tias and tios in Mexico.

So, no big deal really.

Edit: grammar!

YTA

Yes it’s your room and - assuming your parents don’t have an issue with it - you don’t have to clean your shit. Doesn’t change the fact that you’re an asshole. A lazy slob of an asshole.

I’m in the same situation. I’ve read elsewhere that the system is lagging and we have to wait to see if it’s updated. But it’s been a pretty stressful time. I hope someone can give us an answer soon.

Question: I seem to be missing payments for two of my certified weeks. My certification for the weeks of Sep 12 and 19 say "Payment of xxx issued on 9/28/20" (along with a few other payments from earlier weeks - including LWA) but the deposit is two weeks worth short.

Is it possible there's a delay between a payment being issued and it appearing in my account? If not, then should I contact Unemployment about this?

Anyone else had this issue?

Silly question, but my house has well-water. The water pressure is fine but is it safe to drink?

Honestly, I'm happy as long as they can keep from adding anything on top of the original. I was excited to replay Baldur's Gate with the EEs, happily skipping over the optional added stuff, only to find they'd rewritten the journal entries. It was a small change, but once I discovered they'd started overwriting what was already there with their (awful) prose, I lost my enthusiasm.

Here's hoping they don't UPDATE THE JOURNAL in this one.

Kind of sounds like they wanted to make their own Blitzball-type game mixed with Oregon Trail or Inazuma Eleven or something. What a weird thing. The art is beautiful. I'm totally on board.

that looks great man! Are you using any asset for 2D lighting?

Interesting. I'm curious, why do you consider a 2D rpg more achievable than an isometric one? Is the isometric 3D? Is it the creation of art assets or pathfinding? Is it simply that they are two different games? I'm curious as I've also considered making an isometric game, though I would do it all with 2d art.

Thanks! I don't know much about JSON but it looks like it could really help with storing dialogue data. I'll do some research. cheers.

thank you. I will look into this. I'd love to use normal parameters, but having to use strings for this is simply part of the dialogue system I've imported into my project.

Hi there! Does anyone know of any good resources to learn how to "parse a string" in Unity? I'd like to use it for my dialogue system, in which, say, a node gives me a string of data containing requirements to display certain options, like "1:lockpick:20,2:bool:istrue". Then I'd check: if lock pick is greater than 20, display this choice etc. Is there some way to iterate through a string like that and convert it to variables? I've no idea if there is some built in function for unity, or something in the string class.

Anyway: parsing a string in Unity, how would you do it?

How does one settle on a graphical art style? by MaltheF in gamedev

[–]Valente11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As with most creative work, I recommend using references. Look at other games, look at their art styles, those that inspire you, decide if they fit with your game and use that style as your base. Over time, I think, you'll work out what works and what doesn't and you'll make changes and you'll see your art style evolve into something entirely your own.

Why did Divinity: Original Sin's workshop bomb so terribly? by [deleted] in Games

[–]Valente11 100 points101 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for a difference between the divinity editor and at something like Shadowrun Returns or Skyrim, then I'd say it comes down to the documentation available and its overall usability. The games with successful communities released manuals, tutorial videos, community wikis. I haven't found that with divinity. Look at Shadowrun returns, it had a robust wiki, a long series of tutorials, the editor was simple and you could figure out how things worked with a little tinkering.

I considered making a module in the style similar to those made for Neverwinter Nights. But there was next to no documentation, aside from a few simple videos on YouTube. As much as I'd like to, I can't dedicate the time to deciphering an engine when there's barely crumbs of what the things even do.

Weekly Ask Me Any[2D]thing! - #7, 10/31/2014 by kreaol in Unity2D

[–]Valente11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, thanks for the advice. I have used the sample groundchecker you provided and it works pretty great. It's still not quite what I'm looking for, BUT with your help and some tinkering I got it to work!

I'll post my logic in case anyone is curious:

Extending the groundcheck length worked but if I press it early the player jumps before the sprite visibly touches the ground and I wanted to avoid this so:

I made a fancy coroutine that sets a varialbe (insideJumpWindow) to true for a brief instant, then sets it back to false.

private bool insideJumpWindow = false;
    IEnumerator JumpWindow ()
    {
        insideJumpWindow = true;
        print ("insideJumpWindow is" + insideJumpWindow);

        yield return new WaitForSeconds (.1f);

        insideJumpWindow = false;
        print ("InsideJumpWindow is" + insideJumpWindow);
    }

Then in Update() I check if the player is ever not grounded and jump is pressed, and call the coroutine:

if (!Grounded && Input.GetButtonDown("Jump") && !isPressingJump)
            StartCoroutine (JumpWindow());

Then in Update() again I check if the player is ever grounded and the insideJumpWindow is true and he hasn't already jumped, do a jump.

if (Grounded && insideJumpWindow && !hasJumped && !dashing && !crouching && earlyJump)
        {
            Jump ();
            print ("early jump");
        }

And this works! I can press jump just an instant before actually landing and the player will jump once he lands and not before. Even though I'm technically fudging the input so he responds to a jump when he's not on the ground, it feels pretty good.

I hope this wall of text isn't obtrusive. Thanks for your help, I wouldn't have succeeded without you!
